The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

This site is specifically created for this great SLR cameras by Canon. Please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thanking you in advance. My father has a T90 but it makes wrong when somebody push down it from a table. Hi gives it to me. All function works, but after the explosure the display displays 'EEE', and nothing else to do. Only after battery remove can be switched on again. The film driving motor don't works. If the film driving motor don't works, all ather function works, exept film driving motor several times without going to the 'EEE' state. Suddenly (only under 1/250 shutter speed) the film driving motor works but I can hear that to match time (1 sec), and than it goes in 'EEE' state. If I seize the shutter subtly by my finger, it never goes into 'EEE' station in slow shutter ranges.
I have downloaded the T90 service documentation from http://www.canonfd.com/
PLEASE WRITE ME IF YOU KNOW SOME IDEA!!!
(The hungarian official canon service don't help me. Hi says: We hasn't any exchange parts and cannot order already...)
Please send the answer to my email address too ( bjl2@freemail.hu ), because I can use internet rare but mail service works always. Thanks!

Ashiq, the best method would be to use a handheld meter and compare it to the meter reading from your camera ... but you probably do not have one. You could find another photographer an compare readings.

Another method would be to shoot slide film.
It will show you exactly (assuming the photofinisher has balanced their machine properly) what you shot.
Find a subject with a consistant light source so when you get the film developed you can compare.

As Luigi stated, improper usage of spot metering will cause exposure problems. If you are not familiar with metering a scene then stick to Average metering.

Ashiq: spot metering is a powerful but potentially "dangerous" metering technique. It meters just a small area, and if you don't take into account the difference in brightness between that area and the rest of the image, you could get overall bad exposed photos. The T90 allows to check that difference using the right scale in the viewfinder. Anyway, you could check the meter using an external one (with spot metering too). If get blurred images, it could be a camera/lens problem, or just bad focusing. If you are short-sighted, use glasses while shooting, or look for and adjustement lens.

Meiner Meinung nach die Canon T90 die beste Kamera, die jemals gebaut wurde. Eine Leica ist Schrott dagegen !

Anyone know if there's a Speedlite 300TL SERVICE Manual on-line?

My unit died, and all the repair people I've talked to tell me to get another unit and keep the dead one for parts. Once I get another one, I'd like to dig around inside the dead one (yes, I know it's dangerous) and see if I can figure out what went wrong.

I've already checked the usual suspects (Christian Rollinger's site, here, etc.). I can find 300TL owner's manuals and Reference Guides on-line, but no service manual. Anyone ever found one?

John

I live in India and unfortunately there is no body who can service my camera. My T 90 has a problem with the shutter release.....the arrow mark on the pad that indicates the frame advance etc., keeps blinking and the shutter doesnot release.
