The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

The respective Message Boards are some of the HARDEST hit section of the PIM site, if at any one time, the traffic is high - the table/content may take a while to load the data, just be patience. If it stalls, just click on the 'Reload' or 'Refresh' button on your browser menu once to re-attempt. Thank you.

Luigi : Many thanks for your list of instructions for operating the T90 on Auto Bellows. I have written operating instructions myself, professionally, and I appreciate your style. To be of universal benefit, any such instructions should be broken down into their most basic elements and should not assume the reader has any prior knowledge of the subject. I now have to work out how to use a 300TL flash in conjunction with the T90 + Auto Bellows + a double cable release.

KEN, Jurgen must be referring to the taking lens. The viewfinder lens is not classified as "f..." something as it has no aperture. MICKEY

I recently purchased a t90 and canon zoom lens. After getting home and thinking about the transaction I'm doubting that the person selling these was the legal owner. If you (or you know anyone who has) have "lost" said equipment email me with the serial numbers of the body and lens and I'll be happy to get these items back to you.

I am needing to find out what the differences between the 199a flash to the 277t flash unit are for use on a canon t70. We know the 277t is the recommended unit but would the 199a be suitable and would all the features of it work on the t70, what features would we miss on with using the lower flash of the two. Hope someone can help? Thanks.

Jurgen - To me "objectiv" and "lens" mean the same thing. What exactly is broken? Ken

Sam: No problem fixing this.
Here what to do: Get a small philips screwdriver. Remove the 3 screws at the front. Then loosen the screws at the backlid locking plate about two rounds. Don't remove the screws completely. Carefully pry out the plate a bit, and the front panel will come off. Ba carefull not to brake the plastics. Tighten up the lens mount screws, and secure them with locktite or glue. Make sure the stop down lever is is in place when refitting the front panel again.

I have just bought an old but apparently fine T-90.Fine, except that the chromed lens mounting flange has a small amount of movement.I am aware of movement of the mount as I focus the lens. While the camera still works OK, is there a simple way to fix this?

René: The problem you have is due to diry magnets. There are 3 magnets in a T90, two in the shutter assembly and one for releasing the mirror. When the shutter magnets are dirty, an EEE error shows, and when the mirror release magnet is dirty, the arrow you saw is blinking. The magnets are tiny permanent ones surrounded by a coil. Then this is magnetized, the magnets looses its magnetizm and releases a spring loaded metal piece. Dirt and oil on the magnet surface causes the magnet to "stick" and the camera malfunctiones. A simple CLA will fix this. Unfortunatly, all T90's will suffer from this at one time. It depends on storage temperature and use, but sooner or later a CLA is required.
