The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Hi, Something happened to my T90 on a recent climbing trip and now I get the "HELP" in the viewfinder and "EEE" on the LCD screen. Any suggestions? This happened once before after I dropped in on a glacier about 7 years ago. After sending it in to a service center in Seattle, WA I got a $170 bill for cleaning and nothing wrong was found. If there is a reset or someting of that kind that might save me the $$, I'd sure appreciate knowing about it. If not, do folks know a T90 repair facility that is highly reccomended? Thank you, Jon Denham3. From : Ken D (kdurling@comcast.net)

What Mr. Black says is true, except for the "only" part - the scale should illuminate whenever the shutter button is half pressed, showing a frame counter except when in spot mode, when it shows a meter scale with indicators. Ken4. From : Erasmus B Black (afticanqueen@hotmail.com)

Gentle sirs. The T90s internal bulb illuminator brightens the blue scale on the right only when T90 is set to spot metering (black circle in rectangle) mode. Please try that and one's problem may be dissolved. Your humble and obedient servant, E.B. Black.Longtime companion to her grace, the African Queen.5. From : Irwin Schmendrick (bzoo@hotmail.com)

Leroy and Ken and all good friends. A happy Summer to you T=Ninerniks. Me too. We all love the T90 and those wonderful FD lenses. So nothing to stop us from using them until, well, at least "the last syllable of recorded time,"as my mama-rest her soul- liked to say while stirring chicken in the pot. No,Canon EOS has a range of digital bodies for their EOS lenses. Some low cost. So they don't offer an add on back to convert to digital capture. Recall,it takes more than a sensor, you need lots of electronics,a full menu and the CPUs to go digital. Now,if you are a Republican highroller, you can buy a Leica or a Hasselblad H-1,which can be retrofitted eventually with a digiback, but these were designed for the double duty. So,what to do. Me,I bought a DSLR (not Canon, not Nikon) and with one nice zoom lens. It took some investment. I will NOT sell my T90 and my FD lenses. Noone, even the NRA,will get me to give up film cameras from my cold dead hands.Well, it aint that bad...I hope I have not offended anyone,or at least offended everyone equal. Leroy - Where did you see the EOS 1 back? I've never heard of this. I am 99.9% certain that nothing of the sort is available for the T-90. Ken8. From : leroy (trudi.mitchell@ntlworld.com)

Actually, you don't need to completely remove the side panel. Just unscrew the two screws about two rounds, and carefully pry the panel out a bit. That's enough to loosen the front cover. Ketil10. Regarding the query about the camera mount of a T90 being loose. This is held on by 4 countersunk screws. To access you need to remove the side panel where the release to open the film compartment is. CAREFUL there is a small spring in here you could lose. Examine the mechanism carefully before removing completely. Then remove the front cover, (about 3-4 small phillips head screws. Now you can tighten the 4 c-sunk screws. I added a tiny drop of Lctite thread locker to each one. Reassemble in reverse order. If you're nervous a service tech should only take a few minutes to do this. To reply change xxx to hug. I'm not putting in my correct email as I get enough spam as it is, without giving my email address away to spambots.
