The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Paul, My t90 started this also, Its a case of dirty contacts. Move the wheel very often, several times a day, the problem should clear up. If not than a repair is in order.

Had excellent use out of two T90's for over a decade now, one body has just now developed a minor fault, the control wheel misses (fails to advance or reduce) a setting about every eighth click. Is this a common problem, is it easily rectified? (Searched the thread on this site for words like 'control' 'wheel' but did not find anything relevant). It is a minor annoyance, otherwise I am just so pleased that Canon made such a capable machine as a 'last hurrah' for the FD system as these optics are just sooooo good! Thanks and regards, Paul.

This probably falls under the "Yeah right who isn't" category, but I'd like to find a B and a D screen for the T-90. If anyone has any ideas or leads, please LMK. Thanks!

Thanks David, interesting reading. Looks like I have some experimenting to do. For now, actually, I have a round "A-series" type cup on it, and I don't have any problem with it.

Mark - Which EOS eyecup is that? I went to a shop looking for one of these, and although I didn't take it out of the bag, the Ec eyecup looked too large, just holding it up to the VF. Thanks, Ken

Neal Ivey - "Proper" T-90 eyecups are fairly difficult to find (and tend to be VERY expensive if you do find one). The eyecup for the EOS-1 fits pretty well and looks much the same as the proper one - and you can get them new from most camera shops. Hope this helps. Cheers, Mark.

I am looking for the black rubber eye piece that slips onto the viewfinder for my T90. Mine has become torn and not useable anymore. Any ideas where I might be able to find a new one?

Thanks Don and Ken! I experimented with a linear polarizer and confirmed your advice. Only the spot meter readings were affected by the rotation of the linear polarizer. My T-90 arrived with the D screen installed and the standard E screen in the storage case. The case was coated with what appears to be spray paint mist, not a direct spray. I removed it from the case with rubbing alcohol, but some of this misty contamination is on the E screen even though it was inside the case. Arrgghh! Any advice?
