The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Mickey: Thanks for the advice. I am using a zoom/wide angle lens a lot lately. I will try being more careful as you suggested. I have had some of my prints re-done at another photo-finished and they are better!!! Everything on the camera is tight and true, so I guess I'll just steady myself better and use a more professional photo finisher. Thanks!!!2. From : Mike (mstackho@msn.com)

Jennifer, One last thought. Check your negatives with a good magnifier. If you are sure they are sharp it could very well be your photofinisher. That too has happened to me.4. From : Jennifer (dukes@vegacom.on.ca)

I have found that a lot of my pictures seem "blurry" lately. Could I need a new focusing screen? How do you know when it's kaput???5. From : Bart Eleveld (bart.eleveld@orst.edu)

No one ever answered my question awhile ago about the use of an Ikelite lite-link slave trigger. So I'll try again. Anyone ever use one of these gadgets with a T-90 and 300tl or other TTL flash? For those who've never seen it, this slave is supposed to preserve TTL function even though it's a wireless trigger. It works by sensing when the on-camera flash quenches it's flash and causes the off-camera TTL flash to quench at the same time. Thus the camera's meter "sees" both flashes and can turn them both off at the same time. It sounds like a handy alternative to the Canon Off Camera flash cords. But I haven't heard from anyone who has actually tried one.6. From : Fabrice Bozon (fbozon@yahoo.ca)

I have owned my T90 for about 15 years with expensive "L" Lens and accessories, my camera has Been buggy lately and by reading websites and going to camera stores, parts are getting hard to fine And I was told it will be worse in the next 2 to 3 years and then the dreaded OBSOLETE, most Company’s only keep stock on parts for 7 years, for T90 that was approximately 7 years ago. I have decided to dish off (sell) my equipment when I can get a good price for it. These are the idioms I will be selling: T90 Body still working most of the time, 300TL Flash, Infa Remote, FD28mm2.8, FD50Lmm1.2, FD85Lmm1.2, 35 70mm2.8-3.5, 75-210mm2.8-4, FD135mm2.5, 300mm4, FD2x, FD200mm2.8, After I fine out what prices should be I will post the sale time and place. I thank you and wish everybody lots of luck.

I would dearly love some Auto FD Bellows for my beloved T90. Where is a good place to look ? In response to the shutter issues I noticed on this great website, I have replaced one shutter assembly in London around 1990 (I think damp was probably the issue). After many years of service, I now get the flashing "Single" warning on depression of the shutter release (with no exposure). I found by trial and error that using the stop-down feature clears this problem until next time I get the camera out. Is this a common problem ?9. From : Colin Nicol (manleecol@btinternet.com)

Thanks Mark D for your assistance. I have already made inroads on the sites you recommended and have found available T90's. I have already purchased a 300TL in good condition. So I feel I am half way there. I have also downloaded the concept/capabilities/ instruction manuals which have been a great help( and a credit to the Author) and an insight to the advancement this particular camera has achieveed within it's short life span. Thank you again.

ColinNicol - You shouldn't have any probem finding a used T90 in the UK. Your best bet is to get hold of a copy of Amateur Photographer and look through the camera dealer adverts at the back. Dealers with websites include www.ffordes.com (in Scotland),www.solophoto.co.uk and www.mxvphotographic.com. Prices generally start at around £200 for a well used one. You might want to check through the older posts on the forum for things to check before/if you do get one. Cheers, Mark.
