The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Sticking T90 shutter; Hold the shutter release down and press then release the stop-down lever, the shutter should now fire. Fire the shutter repeatedly and regularly; use it or lose it!

I have aproblem with my Canon T90. A few months ago we had to shift to a new city and i carried my camera with me on the aeroplane. Apparently the batteries leaked in the battery compartment and alo damaged the battery holder. My camera is refusing to switch on. Can you advice me on what i should do and where can i get it repaired from. I live in Pakistan. I adore my camera and feel very sad about it. It feels starnge that just because of one silly mistake i cant use my camera.

On getting a manual for the T90, there was one posted on Christian Rollinger's site but removed for copyright but there is a sourc to buy it listed. It may not be a simple as it sounds, lots of electronics can get tricky. Parts for F-1 are prized by professional repairpersons,so I don't know how one can get them easily.(Try a want to buy ad in this web site, trading section?) But you can always try the Canon Parts departments all over the AsAsian. They have their back drawers for some parts of the F-1N.Dr Strangelove has an inventory but its not catalogued yet in the mineshafttee! Getting a camera apart is less hard then getting it together again so I am told. Good luck, if its broke you will learn much even if it flops, and before you shop for a replacmenent on e Bay. There are some electronic instruments needed in test and adjustment. Soldering anddesoldering small parts comes in handy. Erasmus B Black.

Hi folks... Lucky I found this informative site. I have a T90 (bought new in '90) that has the typical EEE issue (dirty shutter magnets). While I could send the camera out for repair, I was thinking why could'nt I fix it myself. Before you roll your eyes, keep in mind I am VERY mechanically inclined and have repaired watches, my other SLR's (EF, AE-1, F1, A1) myself. However, those other cameras are more mechanical and not as complicated as the T90. Does the T90 require proprietary tools (unique to the T90) or is it pretty straight forward? If this is over my head and risk destroying this wonderful camera, I will spend the money. Its just that I like doing it myself so I know what makes it tick :) Lastly. Anyone know where I can buy a replacement shutter for this T90? Or maybe a service manual (not owners manual)? -TIA

Andy, The flashing triangle icon is normal if your batteries are low. Change them & let us know what happens. Only a guess, but if the batteries are low enough that might stop the shutter from firing. The viewfinder dashes & "F" are also normal. Its a frame counter. Each dash represents six frames. Let us know what happens when you change the batteries. TomR.

Roberto, Can't help with the manual but there is a guy in NV who is supposed to be very good with T90's; I believe his name is Steve. I think his info has been posted here before. I'd do a search under "repair" and see what turns up. Also there's someone who advertises on ebay with "Repair for your T90", offers a complete CLA for $90. Might be the same guy.
