The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

I think my 300TL may have died. When I power it up all the lights on the back light up except for the red "test" button. I never hear the high-pitched whine it usually makes when it's charging, and the red test button never comes on. Changing batteries makes no difference. Is it worth repairing, or is it time for a replacement? Is there something I'm overlooking? John2. From : Phil Reeds (preeds@btinternet.com)

My faithful T90 has developed a habit of not firing the shutter. Instead the arrow hed beside the "S" for single shot flashes. The only resolution seems to be to switch off, take the battery holer out, put back in and switch on again. It is intermittent and the batteries are 100% new, any ideas appreciated as it always happens at the wrong time.3. From : Syd C (s.croft@blueyonder.co.uk)

To you experts out there, this may seem like a silly question, but there is a good reason behind it. In the 4/5 years I have had my T90, I have only twice been bothered by the dreaded EEE/HELP. Rightly or wrongly, in both cases I have associated this with operating the stop-down lever, hence my caution. When using the stopped-down AE mode for close-up accessories between the camera and an FD lens, the Camera Instruction Manual advises that the aperture ring should be moved from the “A” mark and set to the required value. The stop-down lever should then be pushed in prior to taking the photograph. What the manual does not say is whether the aperture ring should be moved before removing the lens from the camera and fitting the accessory. Logically the same question applies to the stopped-down lever.I would appreciate constructive comments.4. From : CE (engel001@yahoo.com)

Noam, regarding T90 resources: Check out www.canonfd.com. There are Canon T90 test reports, manuals, repair manual, and, best of all, the "Canon T90 Performance Book" (direct link: http://www.canonfd.com/perfind.htm). This is probably going to be your best resource on this fantastic camera.5. From : Ken D (kdurling@comcast.net)

Noam - There are many resources online. Do you know how to use Google? For example, try: http://t90.tripod.com/. Also, this site we're on here has a lot of information on the T-90, so follow the links on this page. Also check the Canon Camera Museum at: http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/f_camera.html and go to the "T" series page. Ken6. From : noam (bibelbrox@yahoo.com)

I am interested in purchasing a Vivitar 6000 AF Macro Ringlight for use on my T90. The question is, will it automate exposure using it's TTL metering feature on the T90 since it's ostensibly built for the newer Canons ?8. From : Syd C (s.croft@blueyonder.co.uk)

Leroy: Why not buy a good quality film scanner? With my T90 coupled with a Nikon Coolscan IV I envy no-one.9. From : Ken D (kdurling@comcast.net)

Ah, Luigi - you're probably right. It's been so long since I haven't had film in either of mine that I don't remember! Of course questions of the camera's functionality with no film in it are a bit moot, but however . . . ;-) Ken10. From : Luigi D. Ken: IIRC the frame counter is not displayed when no film is loaded.
