The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Tom - A good camera store should have it - it's still in print. It's usually filed with all the Magic Lantern guides, being similar in size and intent. Barring that, I see them on eBay regularly. Ken2. From : Dr.Thomas P. Stewart (drtomstew@adelphia.net)

Where can I get a copy of the Hove book ? I own 2 T-90's and it sounds like I could gain a lot from this book.Thank you. Regards, Tom3. From : Ken D (kdurling@earthlink.net)

Mickey - Thanks much for your input. If I can find a good deal on the "Performance Book" it sounds like I would enjoy it. The Hove book I already have, and I do find it very helpful. And sometimes amusing to read, I might add! ;-) Thanks again Ken4. From : Ken D (kdurling@earthlink.net)

Supruet - Yes, the AD2 system retains full functionality, with the exception (and this is true for all cameras) of minimum aperture, since that position is occupied by AE. I have a Tamron 90/2.5 AD2 that I've used on the T90 with no problems. AFAIK, the only way to avail oneself of min ap on an AD2 lens is on an FTb with the special FTb adapter, which has no AE pin, for obvious reasons. Ken5. From : Supruet (st43@le.ac.uk)

I am a newbie to T90 but rather a veteran for EOS (reverse evolution, may be). Just wonder if the Tamron Adaptall 2 allows T90 to fully function? It seems to me that the aperture ring is in reverse order of Canon FD. Any suggestion? By the way, is Canon FD 20-35mm f/3.5 L any good? How is its quality in relation with EF 20-35mm f/2.8L? Thank you in advance.6. From : Mickey Oberman (mickeyobe@internet.look.ca)

Ken D, The Canon T90 Performance Book is a beautiful book. It contains a lot of photos taken with the T90. It shows the internal workings of the camera. It shows available accessories. It is an attractive and expensive sales brochure. It does not really address the operation of or the problems encountered by the T90. Hove's Canon T90 by Richard Hunecke, on the other hand, is a tiny package of almost everything one might want to know about operating the camera and solving photograpic and mechanical/electronic problems. It is a gem that no T90 owner should be without.7. From : mark wahlster (awahlster@aol.com)

Anyone here have any opinions on the "T-90 Performance Book?" Is it really useful beyond a well-studied manual and Hove book? Does it have graphic or collector appeal? How much do you think one is worth? Thanks much Ken9. From : Bob (robertvirden@hotmail.com)

p kollitsis Re: New batteries did not solve intermittent operation problem. One more thing you might try is to use a pencil with eraser to clean all the contacts in the battery tray, and the contacts in the camera where the try connects to the camera. Many times a film on these contacts will prevent full current flow from the batteries and cause all sosrts of intermittent operating difficulties. When finished cleaning, be sure to get all the eraser dust out before reinstalling batteries and tray. Hope this helps!10.
