The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Thanks Mickey,
That kind of confirms my suspicions, although I was willing to give it a go for $50. But I also use a C and D screen a lot, especially since I'm often using 300+ mm. What I really want to find is a B screen. They seem to be extremely rare. In fact a month or two ago there was a T-90 with one included on eBay, and I almost bought it just for the screen, and resell the body since I have two already. Something - common sense? - got the better of me though. I dunno, maybe I should have done it.

Ken,
I did use the L screen for a very short while.
Instead of focusing by means of a horizontally split image, the L screen splits the image both horizontally and vertically. There is no microprism.
I did not like it. There was just too much clutter on the screen and I found that blackout of segments of the split image to be a constant annoyance. Perhaps as a backlash to the L's deficiencies I switched to the C screen which has no focusing aids at all. I find the brightness of the T90 screen to be all I need to focus quickly and easily and accurately.
If you use long telephotos or extension tubes or bellows you will find the L screen paricularly objectionable.
Furthermore, pictures such as many landscapes or close ups of flowers, among other subjects, where there are no distinct vertical or horizontal lines, render the L screen virtually useless.
The L screen's propensity to blackout was also a problem when viewing stopped down images.
It was not one of Canon's most brilliant developments in my opinion.

ZAK - Can't help you with most of the stuff, but for Canon FD, check here: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/starka/CanonFD_ebay2.htm It's an eBay guide, but it lists street pricing as well, and I have found it to be very helpful. Ken5. From : ZAK (zyzfr1@yahoo.com)

Hi, I own a 300TL flash, bought from ebay 2 years ago. After returning from a trip to Cuba, when I try to turn it on I hear a sparking sound, like a short-circuit inside the flash. It seems unsafe to keep it on, so I turn it off immediately. Any ideas what may cause the problem? Dirt maybe? A year ago I had a minor battery acid leak, but that doesn't seem to be related (the flash worked fine long after that). Should I try open it and clean it, or should I send it directly to Canon service?8. From : Luigi D. Sandon (cp@sandon.it)
