The Canon T-90 System |

Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Mr Beaumont. if you do a search on EEE in this forum, you will see the various options and home remedies. That was how I found this forum in the first place. In the UK, I understand there is a John Lowe who is able to fix this problem. You could try contact him, his details should be easily found somewhere in here. cheers2. bronstejn, "I imagine pacific atolls with coconut trees - like in some Widows screen saver." Sorry my friend, you're thinking of Bali or Phuket. This place is much more metropolitan. :) On a sadder note, the catch on my T90's battery tray broke as I was fiddling with it... :(4. From : TomR (trigilano@netscape.com)

Dominique is looking for an instruction manual for the T-90 and the 300TL, in French. Can anybody help? I didn't see the French versions on Mr. Rollinger's site. TomR5. From : doré dominique (d.dore@initiatives77.org)

Organ donation! - do T90s have specific blood-groups and antigens? Mickey, a back up battery from 1986 to 2006? Hey, it seems the battery lasts longer than the T90! Rack, Singapore... so it must be in connection with the sun! I never believed in Latin temperament. Me I also have been living near the equator, and I am still searching for something since then. I am envy for you :-| I imagine pacific atolls with coconut trees - like in some Widows screen saver. :-o7. From : Rack (me@home.com)

Bronstejn, I'm glad I could add some sparkle (not lens flare) to this forum. Discussing comatose T90s are depressing enough. Puerto Rico?? Hahahaha... I'm in Asia, Singapore to be exact, right next to where this forum is hosted (Malaysia). For your poll: My T90 slipped into EEE-induced coma while sitting upright in the drycab (30-40% humidity), no lens, no batteries, no film. Lack of exercise would be a prime reason.
Mickey, you'll probably win your wager, but the reasons I'm not rushing to ship my unit to John Lowe (and I'm sure he's very capable of reviving my T90) are: 1. I got my T90 + 50/1.4 used at a very good price many years ago in Canada. It's been through -30 to 35 Celcius temps, seen North America to Asia through it's viewfinder. So it has paid it's way. 2. The market is all AF and digital here, so I could probably get a decent used T90 for a little more than what I would have to pay to ship it overseas. Hope that explains things a little..... This is a great site though, and you guys are a great bunch to talk shop with.8. From : Mickey Oberman (mickeyobe@rogers.com)

Bronstejn, 1. My camera has never let me down when in use whether normal or abnormal, regular or irregular. It did break down when it had not been used for about 4 months. It developed that dreaded "EEEE HELP" syndrome. I bought the camera new in 1986. It broke down in 2000. I sent it to Morgantown Camera in Westover WV for $90.00 US plus $8.00 shipping with a 6 month warranty. Morgantown did a repair, Clean, Lube and Adjust. It has never given me any trouble since then but when not in use I am sure to activate the shutter at least every 2 weeks. Incidentally, no parts were required. 2. Stored about 4 months. Temperature 68 to 70 F. Good batteries. Internal battery good. ( It still has the original internal battery). Humidity was relatively low. Camera position was on its bottom plate. A lens was mounted. No film inside. Mickey9. From : Mickey Oberman (mickeyobe@rogers.com)

Rack,I'll wager most of the users of this site would consider it very worthwhile to resucitate a T90. You may very well, indeed, have to contend with a cannibalised part but just consider it an organ donation. I believe a good repair person will give a satisfactory guarantee on both parts and labour. Mickey

Rack, I am fascinated of your humor - don't take it as a compliment though ;-) but where are you from? Spain, Latin America maybe?? Damn, you remind me of a Puerto Rican friend.
You're a sparkle at the list! ;-)
Ok, just to be less OFF, I've read this so many times like in Mike's comment that someone hadn't used his T90 for a while, and than it was kaput just by itself. What's going on in a T90 while resting in the cupboard?
Let's make a short poll:
Question 1: Any T90s ever broke down during normal regular use? If so, please make a short comment here.
Question 2: What were the storage parameters?
(Duration, temperature, battery condition, internal battery, humidity, camera position, lens mounted or not, perhaps film inside, I don't know, maybe we can find some correlations...)
