The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Flash query (T90/300TL) - There is one flash mode mentioned in the Hove guide as "best suited for indoor shots" - literally we are told that if you choose A-TTL mode on 300TL, select Tv mode on camera (and select any shutter speed up to 1/250)AND select an aperture MANUALLY - the guide suggests this will effectively be a point and shoot mode with the flash doing all the exposure work... I have tried this and the flash does not seem to work at all when I was using the following settings: 300mm f4 (yes I know its a big lens!) set at f8, shutter set to 1/250... am I missing a point? If I take what the guide says literally (is this not the best way?) this should work, no?

Rodrigo, There has been no response to your query so I am going to stick my neck out. Before you perform drastic surgery on your T90 I suggest that your thoroughly check out your lens. Something might have damaged it. Does the f4 phenomenon occur with one lens only or with all your lenses? If you only have one lens why don't you go to your favourite camera store and ask to try another FD lens. Indeed, try several lenses if they will let you. If it is a newly acquired lens, some lenses must be set to "A" (Automatic) before being mounted on the camera. On others it doesn't matter. Try everything before you consent to an operation. Good luck.
Mickey

I have a problema with may T90. I can not adjust the opening with the camera, that it is fixed at 4.0, I just make it with the lens rings. In the Canon technical service in Chile, told me that the internal chip was damaged, but in Chile there were not a lot of these cameras, and it's very dificult to get it. Do yo know, where can I get a new or used chip por my T90

To Tai, if you can pick up a t90 for less than $800 (Aussie dollars) with two lenses than i'd advise you to take it. I am currently looking for a t90 because it would fit very nicely with the manual FD lenses i already have, and i am looking at prices between $600 - $1000 (AUD) without any lenses. If you can survive without autofocus than what you are getting is an exceptional camera for a good deal. Regards, Dylan

Ps: If you don't buy it can you tell me where to get it and i will happily give it a good home :)

At present I own an EOS 500 together with a 75-300mm ultrasonic zoom & 35-80mm lenses. I have been offered a T90 with 2 lenses for the sum of $750 (aussie dollars)... so am looking seriously into buying it. I am not particularly technologically minded :( but I get the feeling that the lenses coming with the T90 which are a macro 35-105mm and a zoom 100-300mm FD will not fit the EOS (did say I was techno depraved!!). Could someone advise me as to the suitability of the T90 for the likes of me!! ~ also whether thats a good price? I should greatly appreciate any comments :) Tai
