The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Hi, My T-90 has a problem of all parameters working exept that the shutter won't. In the LCD panel the arrow near the Single frame advance keeps blinking every time the shutter is presses. All other finctions work, including the viewfinder information etc., There is no EEEE sign also that is cropping up.

Can anybody tell me what could be wrong and any tips on how this can be solved / tackled.

Thanks,

Ravi.

I have 2 Of these cameras and one shows this message when the button on the of the camera mount is depressed to check focus at the seledected f-stop.but the camera only shows the EEEEE when the lensis removed and the button is pressed.-------So what is the Story...is this normal or abnormal
operation? Thank you in advance for any and all answers...

Michael: when using FEL, the pre-flash is always metered using spot metering, while ambient ligth is metered using the current selected metering mode. Center average is not always the best choice.
Remember also that FEL (like A-TTL) has several sub-modes (program, aperture priority, shutter priority, stop-down, stop-down fixed index).
The most versatile is aperture priority, which lets you control the flash exposure using aperture and ambient exposure using shutter speed.
To master the 300TL, I suggest you to read the "Canon's Reference Guide for the 300TL Speedlite" (www.canonfd.com has a copy) which explains far better then the manual the flash operations.

I am using 300TL Speedlite in FEL mode with my T90, and I have a question about metering mode used when spot metering button is pressed.

To meter the rest of the image, does the chosen metering mode still matter?

The manual suggests I select spot metering mode when using FEL mode. But is that necessary? Is it true that spot metering is always used when the metering button is pressed? If so, then I think I should keep metering mode on center-weighted average so that the surrounding image will be properly exposed.
