The Canon T-90 System |

Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

A few days ago i had two broken T90. Well they both function again. One solution is described a few days ago. The second had the single arrow blinking. In this board some people suggested to hit the carpet with the body while pushing the release button. Somehow this freightened me a bit, so i looked for a more gentil approach. What worked for me: i posed the T90 on his back (where we load the film) on my desk, then, (settings were TV 500 and the motordrive set on low, not single or high), while pushing the release button continu i hit him gently a few times with the rubber end of a screwdriver on the side where we attach a tripod and after only three hits he was back to life. I held the screwdriver reversed. I Hope this might help somebody, let me know.... There is really no need to use strenght. Just hit him gently but firm. Alan2. From : Don Clary (nvis640@yahoo.com)

Suffering from EEE/help messages (which disappears after pushing the battery check or removing the batteries) but reoccurs the next picture? First: Try loading and unloading a filmrol a few times and advance to the end of the rol. At the end (12/24/36) you must push the rewind button (open door just in time in the dark to recuperate the film). Then Second: try to shoot in tv mode 1/500 sec. (mode and speed is very important). If lucky (as i was) you need to fire several times in highspeed mode as well as low speed. Then you lower the shutterspeed (1/350, 1/250) and try again and so. If lockup reoccurs go back to tv 1/500.5. From : Z (zm@yahoo.com)

8bit Barry, Not familiar with the Data Back, but on the Command Back you have to press the "MODE" button to cycle through the various date/data formats untill the display says "OFF". Let us know how if this info helped. TomR.7. From : 8bit Barry (daveandrach@tiscali.co.uk)

Question for data-back owners... Does the command /data back always print date-time etc on the negative? The reason I ask is because I only want it to record exposure and speed info so that when I get my films back I can check out my settings and sort out my errors. Basically I am too lazy to carry around a pen and paper, and it also has some interesting features that I may use in the future. Bazza8. From : Michael Hudson (minkville@spin.net.au)

Battery life on T-90 I bought my T-90 second hand in Tokyo in July 1999, about which I posted a long story then. It came with (new?) Japanese Fuji alkaline batteries which I think are finally about to give up the ghost and I will now replace. Since then I have probably put thru about 60 (?) rolls or so. I don't use the motor drive (unless the camera is empty and just to 'exercise' the shutter - recommended by the list). This indicates the value of the 3 motor design by the Canon engineers. Anyone else want to share a story (or record?) for battery life in this wonderful camera?9. From : Martin Foley (m.foley@wannsee.co.za)
