The Canon T-90 System |

Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Service for 2 T-90 required (in Canada preferred if possible)
I have two Canon T-90's, both stopped working. Both have been checked by Canon authorized techs. Parts required to fix them are no longer available. According to them (Canon service reps) both require main circuit boards. One camera just suddenly stopped working one day. The other would freeze while advancing the film. The dreaded "EEE" would show. After turning the power off the camera would seem to function properly again untill you take a picture and again would lock when trying to advance the film. Then It also completely died, with no signs of life.

Hi !
Today my T90 broke its right neckstrap holder. Is this holder molded into the camerabody or can it be removed (and replaced with something ?!?) Is it possible for me (witout ruining the camera completely) to lift off the top cover of the T90 and getting it back on again ?3. From : Austin McComb (berkley@lcc.net)

Just a short note to say that I picked up a great T90 and 300TL flash from KEH Cameras in Atlanta. They rated it Excellent Plus, but I would rate it Like New Without Box, not a single mark on the camera and it had the remote release terminal screw and eyecup. Price for the camera was $525 and $199 for the flash. Well worth it considering the condition of the T90 equipment I have tried on E-bay.4. From : MarkD (md644@hotmail.com)

Mike Roberts - The "proper" T-90 eyecups are hard to find, and tend to be VERY expensive if you do find one. A good substitute is the eyecup for the EOS-1 which is still available new from most camera shops (about £10 in the UK).5. From : David Gorman (david.gorman@raymarine.com)

This is in reply to an earlier post regarding a loose (wiggling) mount on a Canon T90. My T90 is well used and has run hundreds of rolls for me over the past five years, and I have corrected this problem several times. DON'T take it to a repair shop and get charged a storage and examination fee for something you can do at home! If you can change a watch battery, you can do this! Go to the hardware store and purchase a precision (jewelers) screwdriver set. Use the #0 phillips to remove the three screws on the front plate of the camera around the lens mount. (After removing the lens, of course.) Then, remove the two screws on the side of the body where the film door release is located. Carefully pry the side plate off, being careful not to lose the two buttons and spring that make up the film door release. The front plate will then come off easily. You will then see the four lens mount screws. Tighten them, then replace the front plate and side plate (including film door release buttons and spring) and VIOLA! You just saved a trip to the repair shop and $100 or more! I have also heard of a loose mount causing the lens's signal pins to not register on the camera correctly, causing a one f-stop loss on some camera bodies. Could be...try this fix on the mount and find out!

Hi Jonathan,
During longer period that my camera was not in use, it also had shutter curtain sticking problem (flashing shutter arrow and no shutter operation). I sent my T90 to Authorized Canon Tech. Service of Turkey in Istanbul. The problem is, the shutter release magnet needs cleaning and had it repaired.
This is another answer about same problem on this mailing list ;

RE: Storing T90 Why nobody replied on question (I'm sorry I don't know who has posted it and when) that refers to the storing of T90 with open shutter blades (during any long exposure or "bulb" you remove battery compartment, so the shutter remains in opened position)? Furthermore, if the electricity from batteries makes shutter blades to become magnetized (what will stack them and cause the famous HELP/EEE problem) during longer period when camera is not in use, is it than just enough to keep T90 without batteries during the period of "hybernation" ? Recently, I had a problem of stacked shuttter blades (the camera was not in use for two/three months with very fresh batteries inside), which I managed to solve by removing the lens, pressing the stop down lever several times, as well as switching to "High" film winding mode and firing continously. It worked than, but I would like to avoid this "red alert" situations in the future anyhow. Thanks, Zak If the electricity from batteries causes the the famous HELP/EEE problem during long period of hybernation.
