The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Rayjay, boobele, take an Anacin and calm down already. The battery magazine is still a stock item in Canon Parts department here in the US of A and its a global economy world noo?. And Irwin says you are better off buying new than trying to find a used or cannibalized one where the springs might be all gunked up. I am sure that Canon Centers in your part of the world can find one for you if you ask nice. Post No 36 gives the part number in the States. Let us know if you fail, because we can always look up the Parts USA telephone and I am sure FeDex will bring it to your door. Compatibility of T90 with EOS flashes comes up regulary Claus. Answer: It all depends. Here is what
Canon USA has to say: " The T90 can be used in all exposure modes with all EOS speedlites except the 160E and the 200E. Several EOS Speedlite functions (talking about the others, not those latter two) are not available with the T90. These are second curtain synch, flash exposure compensation (!!!!!). auto zoom, ...and the range displays and so forth.(.a few others that are obvious)". When used with the 200E the T90 is locked at 1/90 second (boo!!!hiss!!!) In Program, Shutter Priority, or Aperture Priority, the camera automatically sets the widest aperture of the lens in use, therefore the 160E or 200E should not be used w/ T90 in those modes. However the T90 can be used at 1/90 in manual mode for conventional flash in low light because the TTl auto continues to funcion" Got that?.., there will be a web quiz on this material at the end of the semester!. All who pass will get a Certificate of T90/300TL mastery pen and pencil set.... I jest. But I think the point is to buy the 300TL or nothing less than the 540EZ or 430EZ and then do not repeat do not expect to use the exposure compensation function with your T90. You can only influence the fill flash algorithm by moving the flash head and only by a small amount. So can you use the 200E, yeah, but you give up a lot . The quoted data comes from a lengthy booklet called Canon Speedlite Reference Guide, copyright 1991 by Canon USA printed to sort out the mysteries. Good luck comrade, Erasmus B. Black3. Jonathan (message 96 - sorry it's so late): I use both the 300TL and the Vivitar 5600 with my T90 with no problems. In fact, sometimes, the Vivitar 5600 is much better and easier to use, especially with full control of the T90's Av (1.0 to 32) via the LCD on the Vivitar's 5600. It's more powerful too. Hope the answer was worth the wait.4. From : edward (edwyun@hotmail.com)

Hi! Can anyone tell me what would happen if I mount a speedlite 200E (or any other EOS speedlite) on my T90. Do I have some kind of TTL exposure compensation using EOS speedlites on T90 ?
Thanks!7. From : Mickey Oberman (mickeyobe@internet.look.ca)

Matt, at the bottom of this page click on "back to Main Index Page of Canon T90" Then click on "Concepts" Then click on "T90 Manual" and Voila! There you are. All you ever wanted to know about the T90 and what isn't covered in the manual can probably be found at this site.8. From : Matt Bleistein (Matt2017@aol.com)

Hi there, I just bought a T-90 without a manual and I'd like to know how you switch from "single shot" to "high and low continuous". If anyone has a moment and could post an answer I'd greatly appreciate it.9. From : Zak Popovic (atol@spidernet.com.cy)

RE: Storing T90 Why nobody replied on question (I'm sorry I don't know who has posted it and when) that refers to the storing of T90 with open shutter blades (during any long exposure or "bulb" you remove battery compartment, so the shutter remains in opened position)? Furthermore, if the electricity from batteries makes shutter blades to become magnetized (what will stack them and cause the famous HELP/EEE problem) during longer period when camera is not in use, is it than just enough to keep T90 without batteries during the period of "hybernation" ? Recently, I had a problem of stacked shuttter blades (the camera was not in use for two/three months with very fresh batteries inside), which I managed to solve by removing the lens, pressing the stop down lever several times, as well as switching to "High" film winding mode and firing continously. It worked than, but I would like to avoid this "red alert" situations in the future anyhow. Thanks, Zak If the electricity from batteries causes the the famous HELP/EEE problem during long period of10.
