The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

The respective Message Boards are some of the HARDEST hit section of the PIM site, if at any one time, the traffic is high - the table/content may take a while to load the data, just be patience. If it stalls, just click on the 'Reload' or 'Refresh' button on your browser menu once to re-attempt. Thank you.

ED - The problems with FL lenses are specific to the ones listed in the manual. Other FL lenses will work, in stop-down mode of course - they do not support AE. Ken

Hello, I'm the proud new owner of a superb 9+ condition T-90, recently purchased on E-Bay. Recently traded my "trusty" F1 & AE1p w/some other items for a 5mp digital. So I picked up the T-90 so as to take advantage of the FL & FD lenses that I have. I own a 19mm 3.5FL canon lens, and I read in the T-90 manual that this lens cannot fit the T-90. I'm familiar with the 19mm 3.5 retro lens and understand the configuration, but I own both breeck lock FL and FD mount lenses. Has anyone had problems with or have been able to use the FL lenses on the T-90. thanks ED in VA

Ashiq, you should not worry if the the image in the viewfinder looks in focus. If it is out of focus because of your eyesight then you should get a diopter. If you are using a split screen then you can use it to gauge focus.

Don't know the Braun, but IMHO TTL flash is the best feature introduced in the last twenty years, much more useful than AF. If the Braun does not allow TTL metering, I'd think about a TTL flash for the T90. The 300TL offers some very nice features, but there are other brands offering compatible units, some like metz with interchangeable adapters that allow to use thier units on different cameras.

There are two backs: the Command Back records only data like date or numbers, and allows for timed photography. The Data Back is able to record exposure information, but unluckily it was designed to transfer data to MSX computers that Canon made and received a lot of hype in Japan and Europe then, but were soon forgotten. Look at the descriptions here, and look at the manuals at www.canonfd.com, and see if they can help you. They are not very easy to find, and usually not cheap.

ashiq: a damaged screen has no effect on the picture, only on focusing. Luckily, T90 screens are easy interchangeable, and you could find a standard one for a reasonable price. "Special" screens are more expensive. The right side LCD displays not only available frames, but in spot mode displays also readings, averages and shifts, and other informations. However, it is displayed only when there is a film in the camera.

just bought a T-90 after starting a photography course and i am already in love. I did get a braun variozoom 340 sc with it which appears to be working however im unsure on its use, and could do with manuals or help. Is it worth selling it to buy a 300ttl.

Also as part of the course im expected to record the info for every shot, would one of the data backs help, and stop me using pen/paper or my voice recorder? Thanks and happy to see people still adore the t-90
