The Canon T-90 System |

Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Canon 300TL lovers and Richard: Canon Reference Guide to the 300TL Speedlite. Auction closes March 6th. Go after it guys (and girls). It doesn't come up all that often. I have it and it contains more useful info on the 300TL than all other publications combined. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=12180974682. From : Murray (murray@sias.com)

Hi everybody (especially Terry & Irwin). I've been away for some time where the internet is still just an idea so sorry I've been absent for so long (we're not sorry I hear you shout!) Anyway to cut to the chase, as an outdoor idiot who tramps up mountains I recently encountered a problem with one of my T-90s which I can only guess was related to the extreme cold. It was about -15c, with a wind chill about the same. Is this outside the operating limits of my tank or just my batteries? If anyone else is mad enough to do what I do....any suggestions how I keep it/them warm "gently"? Thanks - Murray. PS Terry - have you still got that LC-2 thats looking for a good home in snowy Scotland ??!!3. From : Erik (erik_wlr@hotmail.com)

I have been a devoted follower of Canon´s mf SLR´s since my first FT more than 30 years ago. Unfortunately, I failed really to notice the merits of the T 90 in brief period it was offered. I now contemplate buying one used but would like to hear comments from users about what to bee especially aware of when examining the camera. Where are the weak spots; what about known bugs? Eventual negative comments detailing why I should avoid this model (!) are also welcomed. (Please notice that I am not looking for offers for sale) Best regards Erik4. eter - Unfortunately the answer is that you will find one where you find one. If I knew where to find some, I would buy them for resale.5. From : Terry Carraway (TCarraway@compuserve.com)

Richard - That info is in the 300TL Reference Guide. Actually below EV 10 the flash comp is 0, above EV 13 the flash comp is -1.5. From EV 10 to EV 13 there is a straight line reduction in the flash comp.6. From : Terry Carraway (TCarraway@compuserve.com)

Jonathan - Just about any flash will work, it is just that most will not give you all of the capability of the 300TL on the T90. Actually several of the modes for that combo were not available even on EOS cameras with EOS flashes until recently. One thing to watch with older flashes is that many had very high voltage across the contacts. Use of one of these will FRY the flash circuit in a T90 (actually any T or A series Canon).7. Terry - many thanks for your response. I've looked through the 300TL manual and found no reference to the -1.5 @ EV13. Where does Canon state this? I think EV13 is f5.6 @ 250th (100ASA), which is just achievable here in the UK at this time of year! From memory I think I was shooting at less than this and hence the flash output would have been 'full' fill in. I suspect the output was reduced using the method I described. I'll employ some flash meter tests as verification and report back at a later date.

George - I just use a cloth damp with water and very small amount of dishwashing detergent. Then I rinse the cloth and wipe again with just water, then wipe dry. The cloth should be just damp, not soaking wet.
