The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Ewa,

I am not at all sure that my answer will be of any help but ......
Take out your batteries and thoroughly clean all the camera's contacts. Put in fresh batteries.

Sometimes low batteries and/or dirty contacts cause the T90 to misbehave in unexpected and peculiar ways,

Somewone who recognise this error give me please solution!!!
My T90 when I start it only begins in Av mode. There is no way
to change to Tv Program or other modes. When the ring on lense
is in in green perture position, the display shows anyway aerture
from 1,4 to 32 wher I turn the wheel. Same thing in prewee position.Neither it's possible to change ISO,metering by pressing buttons,no SS no comepensation nothing. In off position, the display is still on and turning the wheel stil only changes aperture.Only way to get off is to press battery control-then the diplay is off. Only one shot is possible, but by repeatedly pressing battery control I can do next and next shots. The shutter speed and light metering in this only possible Av mode gave correct pictures. It is not possible to change to sekvencial shutter low or high speed.
No EEE on display. Please message, if somebody recognize this, and what is the reason and cure?
Sincerely
Ewa

Hi all. Have had a T90 for over 6 months now and it has occasionally shown the EEEE message, When it does not have film in i try to use the shutter at least once a day. I have another T90 on its way to me this week and would like to get my original serviced in the UK. Someone on ebay used to advertise T90 repairs and i did have their email but this is now lost.

Does anyone on here know the details for a good UK based canon service/repair??

Yes, a T90 lens will fit a T70, the mount is the same.

Tom,
Have had some fd gear serviced at The Shutterbox in Camberwell (www.shutterbox.xom.au). Check them out, they might be able to do it, can't say for sure as I didn't take lenses there.

I'm afraid it's too late for that. Happened a few days ago now, and is totally dry.
So there is nowhere on the planet that can dismantle, clean, and reassemble an FD lens?

Tom,

This is old advice and I don't know if it can be applied to electronic instruments. It is worth a try.

Do not let the equipment dry out.
Immerse it in fresh water and get it to a repair person ASAP.

Good luck.

Mickey

I dropped a T90 and 500mm L in salt water. Camera is gone, but I'm wondering if the lens can be saved. There was 1 or 2 drops of water inside the front element which have since disappeared in the 24+ hours since it happened.
Can anyone recommend any repair shops (in Australia if possible, Melbourne in particular) that could dismantle, clean and refurbish this lens? Preferably not for some outrageous amount, as well.
Thanks -Tom

John Sutton: try ebay.

John Tinsley: did you check www.canonfd.com? They may have one.

James: if the magnet really failed, finding "new" spare parts may be almost impossible. You could try to look for another non working T90 to get still working parts from, i.e. on ebay or the like.
