The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Pat, I don't have an answer to either of your problems. I thought I had a pretty good knowledge of photographic terminology but "twish on fil" is new to me. Regarding repairs in Canada. I can only suggest that you stay away from Canon Canada. I have, personaly, had and have heard of some others' very bad experiences with them.I know of no Canadian outfits that will repair a T90 both reasonably and well. There must be some but where are they?

Does anyone know why my T90 would only work when set to spot metering ?? other metering modes.... it doesnt seem to be working .... But why one mode and not the other??. When set to the other modes it show a 30" 4.0 on the display... is there and way to fix this guy or should it be sent in for repair. Also when the camera is on wthe back winding motors give a little twish on the fil every 10 seconds or so is this normal? Is there a place to get my T90 repaired in Canada ??3. Ron, I was having the same problem with my T90 Just recieved it from ebay on Friday I was a T50 user and wanted more... What I found the problem was the lens... The lens seemed to be dragging a little so I took it apart and gave it a cleaning and a Lube... Works great now I have shot 3 rolls of film since the repair and no more problems.4. Ron, If the lens aperture ring is set to "A" with the stop down lever pushed in, the "EEEEE" is normal. Release the stop down lever. If the problem is not operator error, you may be able to clear the error code by removing the battery pack and reinserting it. Let us know how things turn out. TomR.5. Larry - In general, I couldn't agree more. However, I don't think the T-90 was ever a camera designed to be more simple! More capable, yes. By contrast, the situation with the A-1: with the basic camera, which also has an electronic shutter, you can use a straight mechanical cable release. But when using the motor drive, you must use an interrupt cable, with a 1/8" plug. EOS cameras introduced the T3 plug, but now, with my Elan 7, they're back to the 1/8" interrupt! I do wish they'd make up their mind. Sometimes when I go out shooting I take 3 different cable releases!7. From : Paul (Paul.Jansz@btopenworld.com)

Larry, more complicated than a cable release, yes it is, but it is not all loss. If you are ok with soldering you can break the cable, add a miniature plug and socket, and also make up a plugged and socketed extension, in my case 80 feet/25 metres, which works fine. [Living in the UK I used some four core telephone lead for the extension, but anything with three conductors should do.] Can be very useful for fixed camera position wildlife photography and the like, without the problems of line of sight or interference that can sometimes make wireless techniques problematic. Thanks again, Ken. It's strange how newer devices, supposedly designed to make our lives simple, somehow have a way to make the simple more complicated - and more expensive.

Whoops, sorry - the $27.50 price is for the adapter for std. cable release to T3 socket. The 60T3 release MSRP is $59.00, B&H sells it for $37.95. Ebay maybe worth a look. I think I paid $30 for mine there.10. Larry - R60T3 releases are still made and sold. You might get one cheaper on eBay, but sometimes it's worth the convenience just to buy it off the shelf. B&H sells it for $27.50 (USD), so your local is probably a bit higher.
