The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Dirk Schaefer,Although it may very well have occured, I have never heard of the screen fading nor of the battery requiring replacement.
Jennifer,My T90 is about 16 years old. Two years ago I wandered about for two hours taking pictures on a cold winter morning a 26 degrees F below zero and it performed flawlessly. Perhaps a little TLC is required. Perhaps just fresh batteries?

Speaking of EEE problems, does anyone else ever ONLY get this problem when it's cold outside? My T-90 seems to do it (EEE) consistantly after every shot outside when it's cold!! My theory is that the film is harder to pull forward and the "sensitive" motor drive can't handle it...does anyone have any other ideas? I have to remove the lens/battery check button before it will re-set. I have not had it serviced yet. It seems to work great in warm weather and indoors...Any input? Thanks.3. Hallo T-90 users, I have the possibility to buy a canon t-90 from a friend of mine. The manual of the t-90 says that after a few years the LCD- displays (inside and outside) will fade. What are your experiences? Is there a possibility that the display will completely disappear? What about the build in lithium ionen battery? Is it possible to build in a fresh one? Does the battery type still exist?4. From : Bart Eleveld (bart.eleveld@orst.edu)

John and Mark:
The prices of T-90's on E-bay has dropped of late. There was a time, about a year or two ago, when bodies were routinely fetching $500 to 600 and 300-tl's were easily bringing $200. Now it's not unusual to see a body in very good condition go less than $300 and 300-tl's go for less than $150. I suspect it's partly the weakened economy but another factor is the increasing quality and/or decreasing prices of digital cameras, including some very fine SLR's. As great a camera as the T-90 is, with Canon D30's now going in the neighborhood of $1200 - 1300, one starts to consider that as a long-term alternative.5. From : Mark (bowdenm@lycos.com)

Hello John. About your T-90 and extras for sale. The best thing to do would be to check on E-bay for going prices. I would hazard a guess to say your complete outfit should go for 700-800+. Wish I had the camera myself. It sounds in good shape.
Good luck on your sale.6. From : Ray (arlirob@cox.net)

Does anyone have any input on how one could acquire the "Interface" for the Canon T-90 Data Memory Back to download the information stored in the Data Back into a computer? This feature is mentioned with reference to the Data Back discussed in the accessory pages of the T-90 instruction manual, but it says the "Interface" accessory was not made available in North America. Has anyone had any experience with this? A picture of it is shown on this web site.7. From : JOHN WEST (JW@ZBZOOM.NET)

I BOUGHT MY T-90 (50MM LENS AND 300TL FLASH) NEW YEARS AGO AND HAVE USED IT OCCASIONALLY, BUT RARELY USE IT ANYMORE. I WANT TO SELL IT. WHAT WOULD BE A FAIR MARKET PRICE TODAY? IT'S IN GOOD WORKING ORDER, LIKE THE DAY I PURCHASED IT.8. From : mark (bowdenm@lycos.com)

Does all FD lenses work on the T90? Like the CANON FD 135 f3.5 for example? It has a silver ring. Grateful for answer as I just bought this on ebay.10. Michael Neuman,

They repaired the same problem with my T90 2 years ago. I have since put about 150 rolls of film through it with no problems. Their price was very reasonable.
I do believe, however, that allowing the camera to remain idle for any length of time may cause the EEE/HELP syndrome.
