The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

The strap lug at the LCD/handgrip end has simply snapped off (for no apparent reason). I recall reading somewhere, possibly on this board, that this is a "known weakness" (true?). Is the part still available? (I am in the UK if that makes a difference); I also seem to remember reading that the material was changed from plastic to metal (because it's a weak point) or was this just a particular repair shop in the US or something of that sort. Many thanks in advance, Mark.

Francisco, I am not sure I understand your question but are you using a very fast film or have you manualy set the film speed for a very high number?

Hello, I am considering buying either a A-1 or T90. I notice a few people on this board already mentioned they've use both. Can I get some advice, pros & cons for these two cameras ? Any comment is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Bart, None of the problem shots were with a flash (they were all fine - and it was a Canon 300 anyway). Someone else has suggested shutter lag on the slightly higher shutter speeds, which sounds quite likely. I have just realised the camera is still under warranty (bought from a reputable shop last year!), so should be able to get it fixed OK, it may just need the shutter cleaned - or whatever they do to shutters. Thanks anyway Ian

After owning an AT-1, AE-1, T-50 and T-70, I think I'm ready for a T-90. I have seen them in various states and conditions, none perfect, until today. It is flawless in apperance and operation and seems to be reasonably priced. The only thing I am concerned about is that it was used in a professional studio environment so it has has a LOT of film run through it. Cause for concern or not?

Thanks.
