The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Hi.
Is any one interested in a brand new genuine in the box T90 Dioptric Lens +2. The glass can be removed to give you a T90 eyepiece. The first person to email me with an offer of $100 will secure this with free postage.
Regards

Terry.

for rayjay
I have too that dreaded blinking arrow problem at times, here's my quick fix: set full frame metering (in spot mode doesn't work :-?) and press battery check some times (you hear clicks coming from shutter), then shutter speed to 1/125 and start shooting. now you can go back to spot metering.
If not, set motor to low or high speed and shoot. It always works here.
I notice that this problem often arises when you put fresh batteries and leave T-90 sitting for some days (strangely more prone to happen if you have shot eg 10 rolls a day then you stop for a week)

Rudi, First off if your T-90 has spent years in a closet it is highly doubtful that it is in perfect condition as these cameras do not store well at all in fact the biggest problem that people talk about is the shutter release magnite sticking due to nonuse. At the very least it would need to have a CLA (clean lube and adjust) All that said, like new cosmetic condition will help the sale price as with any used item. As far as what you should ask for it on ebay ???? Ebay is an auction you don't ask the buyer tells that's how an auction works. If you want to set a BUY IT NOW price for it then you have to decide if you want to sell it quick or try to get the last dime you can out of it. The average that T-90's have sold for on ebay for the last year or so is $378.00 although of late that average is a little high. But for one in like new cosmetic conditon probably pretty close. This would be a body only price if you are going to add a lens it can add from nothing extra for a 50mm f1.8 to ??? depending on the lens offered with the body. If you are a motivated seller set a reserve for the least you would take if someone walked up to you on the street with cash+ the costs to sell it on ebay and see what happens. As to the other items you have I would suggest selling each piece by it's self, as group auctions seam to bring between 60 and 70% of what the items in the group would bring by themselves. I have been invloved as a buyer or seller in over 600 auctions on ebay with at least 70% of those involving Canon FD mount camera equipment so I know what I'm talking about. I currently have 7 FD mount bodies from AE-1P's to F-1N and T-90 even have a nice pair of matched A-1's with MA drives for weddings along with 23) lenses from 19mm to 600mm. Good luck hope you get what you need

I bought T-90 years ago and used it only once on trip to Europe. I would appreciate advice on how much should I ask for it on e-bay. New condition with everything. Data back, Speedlite, Infra red remote, 28 mm Canon, 80-135 & 200 all Canon. I know how much I paid for it, need to know today's value. Was for years in the closet with no batteries in. Like brand new and works perfect.
Thanks
Rudi

Ingvar - This is a common T90 problem and easily, if not cheaply fixed. See page 4, item 37 of this messageboard for more description. See page 3, item 27 for email address of repairman in England. Perhaps someone can recommend a repairman closer to you. See page 3, item 21 for repairman in Reno, Nevada, USA who should have spare shutters, if needed. I think this is quite unlikely; cleaning only should fix the shutter. Good luck!

Dear T90 lovers,
I bought a T90 14 years ago and have been very happy with it altough I only have taken some 50 rolls. A few years ago, it started to be "slower" and when it was in a cold envirnment, minus 5-10 deg.C it stopped and displayed Help in the viewfinder.
I had it checked at a camera workshop and that guy could not find any problem and I tock 2-3 rolls again. Then it was laying unused for a few years and this spring, I planned to work with it again. Now it did not work at all, displaying Help in the viewfinder and EEE on the LCD display. Left it to Canon (via a Kodak shop. Got it returned unrepaired with the comment that it was shutter problem and that no spareparts were available. I refuse to scrap it. Does somebody know if spare-shutters are available somewere, or if there are other tricks to wake it to life again? (all other functions seem to function)
Best regards
/Ingvar

John, You'll find index marks on the camera body, on the lens' breech lock ring and for the lens aperture. All the index marks should be lined up prior to mounting; the camera should have its stop down switch released; and the lens aperture should be set to its "A" position. With the index marks lined up, mate the lens to the camera and the breech lock ring will start rotating counter-clockwise (as viewed from the shooting position). Furher rotate the ring in the same direction until snug. Do not overtighten. If you need further guidance, check out MIR's web site for the A-1 manual. It addresses the breech lock lens mounting procedure. Welcome to the board. TomR.
