The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Richard - I agree that the lack of delayed display shut-off is an annoyance, but what I've become accustomed to doing is, when I take my finger off the shutter and adjust the command wheel I just count the clicks. Then going back to check the setting with the shutter button. The whole procedure becomes quite quick and intuitive after a while. Ken

Hello All and Season's Greetings. I have just bought a T90 in close to mint condition. I like its 'heft' very much. I have read the instruction manual and played with it quite a lot but have not yet loaded my first film. My question relates to the viewfinder information at the bottom. It disappears as soon as I remove my finger from the shutter button. There is no 16-second delay as I am used to with other cameras. Is this as it should be? Maybe this is a power saving feature. I use my left eye through the viewfinder, and wear glasses, so I am finding it a little uncomfortable to be pressing the exposure preview button continuously with my thumb as I change aperture with the command dial. The back of my thumb is rubbing the right lens of my glasses. Any comments? Maybe I'll get used to using my second finger on the shutter button and my first finger on the command dial. Thanks in anticipation!

Chuck: cameras are mechanical devices, and IMHO a proper maintenance can extend their lives. Dried lube and dust can increase friction and wear out moving parts. A regular check by an *experienced* technician can prevent faults.

Chuck, Leave well enough alone. But give it no rest. The T90 EEEE/HELP problem seems to appear when the camera is left idle for a long time. Mickey

Chuck - If you've got a T-90 man close by it couldn't hurt to have him look at it. But I've always said: "If it works, don't fix it!" Ken

I have never had my T90 serviced since I bought it new in 1987 and it still works well. My question relates to "preventative" maintenance. I see a lot of messages about stuck shutter releases, EEE/Help messages, and dead internal batteries posted on this board. So far I have been lucky and not had these problems. But I am not sure how much longer my luck will last. My feeling is to carry on and don't mess with a good thing. Does anyone have an opinion about preventative overhauls? I would welcome of your comments/feedback. Thanks!

Please, I need help because I have just bought a Canon T-90 in very good condition and I like very much the camera. The problem is that it comes with the command back 90 attached to the back and when I have done my first photographs with the camera all the photos have appeared with the date inside the negative on the low part of the image and all the photos have been spoilt. Please I need urgent help if anybody can tell me how to deactivate this command back 90 on the back of the camera in order to get complete photographs w Yours sincerely: José Sanchez
