The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

I have just received a new (nearly) grid focusing screen for my T90. Unfortunately, no directions were included with the screen and I am not too keen on just poking around with the installation tool to see what happens. Can someone lead me through this, or, better yet, scan the instructions and email them to me? THANK YOU Howard

Some time ago I posted a message asking how to change the lens on a diopter eyepiece. Someone wrote that they took it to an optician. I tried that but it would cost too much to change the lens. The optician did suggest a great idea. Buy a pair of inexpensive acrylic reading glasses at the drug store and cut them to fit.(I covered the lens with masking tape so I would not scratch it in the process.) I popped out the old lens and pressed in the new and it works great.

Azam, Near the bottom of this page you will see: Disposing/Looking for New/Used photographic equipment on Canon T-90 camera Click on that. There are many hundred of items most of which, unfortunately, are not for the T-90 but you may find just what you are looking for. Mickey

Azam - Have you tried eBay? I assume you mean the plain matte "C" screen - they show up there from time to time. When I'm looking for something, I usually put a "favorite search" there, with an automated e-mail notification, and I find what I want usually within a month or so. Ken

I bought a T90 in 1987. I later updated to an EOS50E and although the 50E is a great camera it will never take the place in my heart that the T90 holds. My T90 still works perfectly. It is the best camera I have ever owned; it is a true classic. Long live the T90

Frayne Ralph, I know of no one in Canada who will do the work. Quite possibly your T90 only requires a good cleaning, not a new shutter. If the T90 remains idle for any length of time it may cease to function properly or at all. If you peruse this site you will find services that will do this in the USA and England and Asia. Nothing in Canada. I have dealt very satisfactorily with
MORGANTOWN CAMERA AND VIDEO REPAIR 99 Holland Avenue, Westover, West Virginia 26501 USA 800-564-9284 or 304-291-3522 www.mcvr.com. They are quick, relatively inexpensive and reliable Mickey (Toronto)

I have owned a T90 since 1988 I believe and until I had to give up on photography as a hobbie due financial constraints, I would say my T90 was the best camera I ever used. I have recently started to slowly get back to the hobby but my T90 doesn't work. For now I am using an AE-1 Program that I bought in 1981 and it still works great. But I miss my T90. I need a new shutter mechanism. I'm looking for a place that could possibly repair it. I live in the Kingston, Ontario area and can't find anyone around here who can fix it. Would you know anyone in the Toronto to Ottawa area who could fix it. Thank you

Hey. Ease up guys. The wheel isn't stickey and it works as it is supposed to. So I must have done something right. Perhaps it is, indeed, time to have Morgantown give my T90 a thorough physical again. They are good. Former voracious consumer of Ontario made chocolate halvah. Mickey the Squirt

Ketil has my idea right on,atta boy Ketil, thanks for tipping off the squirter bunch, they mean well,but... Remember the fellow who used to fix the shutter magnets with a gentle rap on a table or with a Sears mallet. Where did he go,I wonder? So, if the main wheel contacts, gold plated, are stuck, maybe its time to spend a hundred fifty bucks of hard earned bread and have the camera cleaned at the Morgantown West Virginia camera fixers. They want to make a living in Dogpatch or else we have to send to the guy in England. Yours truly, Irwin S, Chairman and Chief Executive,House of Irwin LTD,GMBH, purveyor of the best halvah in the 50 states and the virgin islands, excuse my french...
