The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

I have recently inherited a Canon T90. I have read up on using it, and it seems fairly straight forward except it is having trouble with loading the film. I have put the film in, past the orange mark, and it is even making a noise when I close the back (advancing the film). However, on the LCD screen, it is showing the flashing bar indicating something is wrong with the loading. As a result, when I press down the shutter release, nothing happens. It doesn't even have any resistance, just nothing. I have fiddled with the placement of the film several times, but to no avail. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? How to get rid of that flashing bar?2. From : John Lowe (lowej7@sky.com)

Mickey,
Thanks for your comments - sadly the display doesn't work.
I had my first T90 for 15 years so know what should be there .... a trip to the repairer seems in order.
TBH though this camera was bought to display - in the main - to remind me of what I used for years ... it would be nice for it to work 100%. I still have the T90 book to which you refer - a handy reference guide.6. From : Mickey Oberman (mickeyobe@rogers.com)

John,
As a follow up to my prior message - the scale on the right of the viewfinder will not show if the camera is not set to Spot Metering.
The book ,"Canon T90" by Richard Hünecke, published by Hove-Fountain Books is an excellent reference for T 90 users. I do not know if it is still available though.

John,
The viewfinder display on the right does not need daylight to be viewed. All displays are illuminated.
I suggest that something may be wrong with your camera and it should be taken to a professional service person.

Mickey; Sorry I've taken a while to thank you for the info. I picked up the other T90's and tried them out of curiosity and one srceamed 'help' and one of the others had the previously mentioned 'ticking' fault! I put all 3 in the airing cupboard and allowed them to warm up slowly and now all are working ok. I did what another user posted and set them to high speed and 1/4000th and let them work flat out for several seconds each and this seemed to have done the trick.
John Lowe; Thanks for getting in touch and the emails but all seems to be fine now. Thanks anyway. G.9. From : John (john@46home.net)
