The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Dear Mickey
I have one FD-EOS adapter made by Hama. It contains lens to make infinity focus possible then has around 1.25X conversion factor. The quality when used with my 350D is very good when attached with telephoto lenses (80-200/4L, 300/4L) but for all other lenses with shorter focal length (24/2.8, 35/2.8, 50/1.4), the quality is very noticeably deteliorated with very soft effect at wide open. Using it with those lenses at higher F can increase the quality, however. I think the softness effect may not occur when use it with EOS film camera but have never tried.2. Ron Ahrens,
I don't have a cure, only a suggestion.
Remove the lens and then try the stop down lever.
If it works you will know that it is not the camera but the lens.

Can anyone help me?
I understand that there is or was an adaptor made to enable the use of FD lenses on EOS bodies.
Does anyone know where I can obtain such a devise if, indeed, one does exist?6. From : Mickey Oberman (mickeyobe@rogers.com)

Mugshot,
In the Vario Programme Mode when you turn the
electronic input dial to the right while holding down the 'Mode' button a 'P' will appear in the LCD panel. Release the 'Mode' button.
Now turning the dial further to the right will bring up 'TELE' and the numbers 1, 2, & 3 consecutively. This is for using a telephoto lens. The higher the number the faster the shutter speed. A help in minimizing the affects of camera shake. As the shutter speed increases the aperture will compensate the exposure by opening wider.
If you turn the dial to the left of 'P', 'WIDE' will appear and the numbers 1, 2 & 3. The higher the number the more the aperture will decrease providing greater depth of field and the slower the shutter speed will be to compensate the exposure.

I'm new to the T90, but have been using Canon FD cameras for thirty years I would be obliged if someone could explain to me the T90 Number 1.2 and 3 wide angle and telephoto programme functions, are they for progressively shorter focal length wide angles, and progressively longer telephotos ? I have the manual it tells you they exist, but It doesn't explain what their function is.8. From : Syd Croft (s.croft@blueyonder.co.uk)

TomR,
Thanks for your reply. I agree that stepping rings are useful items to have. I have several, including one, which covers the correct diameters. However, in this case, it is not the total answer. There is the axial requirement to be taken into consideration as well as the diametral. A couple of years ago, Irwin alluded to this subject but, true to character, only made mysterious reference to the solution to the problem. Unfortunately I cannot find any record of this correspondence in the archives.
Cheers,
Syd.

Syd,
Try step-up rings.
They'll be handy things to have anyway.

@ hillman
Try placing your lens on the A mark then activating the depth of field preview, you'll see EEE on the top lcd, then release the depth of field preview switch. You'll hear a motor winding every time you push in the dof lever. Do this a few times and it might make your t90 release it's shutter.
I personally do this to my t90 whenever the EEE display shows up.
