The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Hi ! I have a question about the T90. Is it posible to change the way the camera roles the film ? Specificly I am interested to make my camere to do NOT STOP after the 36'th position if there are more slides left on the film (the films I am using usualy can take up to 40 shots). It is frustrating to know that there are stil room on the film but the camera don't role further. Please send your answers by e-mail. Thanks ! p.s. forgive my poor english2. After more than 20 years on the AE-1P, I received a T90 today finishing a successful auction on E-Bay (even at a decent price...) As I'm not into digital or Autofocus photography, I'm quite glad about this step, as this camera looks really quite convenient. The overall user-interface to the camera looks astonishing - for a more than 15 years old concept......So final comment - great camera.....3. From : peter mugu (pmugu@mugu.com)

just been given the link to this site by my son who has recently taken an interest in photography.I've had my T-90 for nearly fourteen years and having learnt how to use a camera firstly with a Zenith 12 then a Praktica B100,moved on to autofocus with a Minolta 5000,finally rested with a Canon T-90. And what a purchase it's turned out to be.Thousands of rolls of film (literally) later, and with only one repair necessary,(magnets, eighty pounds),my T-90 has paid for itself over and over again, with competition entries, newspaper photographs,(local and national)numerous weddings and many many photographs for personal use. I still have the original receipt for my T-90 dated 08/11/1990 and though the purchase price of 396 pounds was a lot to me at the time, the money has been recouped many times over. STEVE TERRY,WALES5. Matt - You are not wrong. The T-90 is at the top of the heap for manual focus cameras, rivaled only by the F-1 in the Canon line. For my purposes it has the edge, with built-in motor drive and integrated spot metering, as well as features it shares with the F-1 such as exchangeable screens. The F-1 system has more flexibility, and is more rugged, but is also more cumbersome, being modular. A lot depends on your shooting style. It would certainly serve you for a long time. The one known thing to look out for is a failing shutter magnet, which usually requires replacing the shutter, and they can be hard to find. But if you get one that has been CLA'd you're in good shape. I, like many, own two of them, and they are the camera that gets taken out most often. Ken6. From : Matt Paddock (mapdock@yahoo.com)

Hi there, I think I know the answer to this question, but I want to ask the experts. I've been learning photography on a Canon AE1 I bought. I love the AE1, but for its obvious limitations. So, I'm looking at moving to camera with more features, even the things that may not make a huge impact on the actual pictures like auto film advance/rewing and DX auto features. I have not sunk a huge amount of money into lenses, so I'm tempted to go the route of an inexpensive AF camera, something from the early EOS days. But, I keep looking at the T90 and thinking it makes more sense because I can use my existing lenses and get sooooo much more camera than I have now. Many of those early EOS cameras are now cheaper than the T90, but they don't seem to have as many nice touches as the T90. Am I wrong to think that the T90 could be a camera I would use as an amateur for a very, very long time? If I'm spending the money, I just want to make sure it's a good investment. Thanks, in advance! Matt7. From : ravi vishwanath (ravi.vishwanath@symphonysv.com)

I live in Bangalore, India and have a T-90 that has been an integral part of all my photographic expeditions since 1991. I recently developed a shutter related problem. Unable to have it rectified here I sent it to the US with a friend who also has not been able to identify the right person who could set it right. I would appreciate if somebody would volunteer to help me....I am completely lost without my T 90.8. From : Shayke Shafrir (shafrir2@zahav.net.il)

Hi, Anyone out there who can help with John Lowe's current email or failing that anyone in the UK who can cure me off the dreaded EEEE disease. Had several expensive repairs , which last till the week after the guarantee ran out in each case, and dont know whether to relegate the camera to a door stop or not. Perhaps I will just stare at it lovingly. Seriously missing using it.
