The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

This site is specifically created for this great SLR cameras by Canon. Please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thanking you in advance. Can the 300TL speedlite be used on the A-series bodies as well? I have an AE-1 Program, but when I mount the 300TL, the viewfinder in the AE-1P flashes "32". What gives?

I would like to bring to everybody`s attention of the services of John Lowe in the U.K. He has just CLA`d (cleaned, lubricated and adjusted) my beloved T90 and did an excellent job, and his fee was very reasonable. He can be reached at jillyandjohn@lineone.net I think he does international as well but it would be best to check with him first. For the record, apart from job he carried out, I have no other contact with him.

Underwater work with a T90 is going to be expensive and is not a real option I notice. Since housings are not in inventory for T90, Ikelite, the company still making these plastic housings with all the watertight fittings and knobs and stuff says on the web site that it has to charge extra (warning for) for T90 and other mechanical Canons it makes custom cases for. This means for underwater work an EOS camera and lens is one answer. LeoFoo and the masters of this board please to not defenestrate me for saying what I said. Some things just don't work with T90,nor other ancient but lovable beasts and under water is out. Better still, I'd bid on a late model Nikonos with a spare gasket set and a few lenses. A zoom lens and multimetering does nothing under the waves. Consider same. Your humble and obedient servant, Erasmus B.Black.

I have a T90 that has a problem related to operating FD lenses in auto mode. It works fine with my 200 macro, 135 t 2.0 . It locks up (viewer says HELP) with my 28 f 2.8 and 50 f1.4. Local Canon authorized servece center says its the aperature control system, both electrical and mechanical and that Canon no longer services the camera.I'm wondering why it works with the expensive lenses and not the cheepies. If it needs service, who do you know near Minneapolis who can do it right? Please email me if you have had this problem and have any suggestions.

To using a T90 underwater I would just put worth that it is really not a very good choice for an underwater camera as the VERY FIRST time it is exposed to saltwater you will be throwing it away as it is so dependent on electronics the tinniest amount of Salt water will destroy it. I am even very very careful of having as expensive and Salt water intolerant camera at the beach. Choosing my F-1 for this duty most of the time. I would suggest that you look in to a different camera for underwater use, unless you enjoy buying the Most expensive Canon FD body over and over again! Also with the short production run and very unusual controls on a T90 I doubt if you would be able to find a housing for it. And underwater all those fancy options won't be usable anyway.
