The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Bill: a LP filter could fool the meter, due to the way it implements the spot/semispot readings via a semitransparent mirror, IIRC. If exposure is correct, the filter won't have any other drawback.2. From : Bill Davis (wddavis@spiritone.com)

I'm a bit confused as to what type of polarizing filter I should use for the T90. Presently, I use a linear polarizing filter but just recently noticed a comment in the manual to not use a linear polarizing filter. The filters I use now work the way it should and I've read that circular polarizing filters are for auto focus cameras. So, what gives???3. From : L. BASS (saxotone@rogers.com)

I've got a Canon 35-105 FD fixed 3.5 for my T-90; but its very heavy. I would like to purchase a lighter, short tele zoom and would appreciate an opinion of the best 3rd party tele in the 28/35-85/90 range. Also how does the Canon FD 35-105 3.5-4.5 compare to say the Tokina ATX 28-85, or the Vivitar Series 1 28-90. Thanks4. From : Frederik (f.lobbrecht@planet.nl)

Luigi: Thank you - i'll go look for an E-screen then.
If anybody has got an B- or E-screen lying around, I'm interested.

Frederik: no, the T90 needs its own focusing screens. They are mounted in a cell that fits the T90 and come with a tool that makes changing them very easy.6. From : Frederik (f.lobbrecht@planet.nl)

Great site!
I've got a question - just got a T90, but i'd like to change the focusing-screen.
1/ Is it compatible with the screens from an A1 / AE1/ AV1? - I could scrap my AV1 for parts and would like to use it's focusingscreen.
2/I've never changed it before but am guessing it shouldn't be too big a problem - or am I wrong?
Thank you !

Vince, The eeee indication has nothing to do with backup battery, it most likely indicates the classic shutter problem. This is a simple repair, if nothing else mechanical has gone wrong in the shutter mechanism. As I am located in UK I cannot help on the source of a repair firm, but all things being equal the quoted cost does look a bit steep. My repairer charges around UK£70 for a full service/backup replacement for T90s with eeee problems. He always changes the battery as a matter of course when he does shutter work.
The T90 will work quite happily without the backup battery; all that happens is that your ASA settings etc., are not remember if you switch off the camera between frames.8. From : vince balzano (vincentbalzano@yahoo.com)

I love my t90 but have the eee problem. I tried all the suggestions that were posted. Is this a shutter issue or the backup battery issue. I checked with a repair house in ct. and they want $260 to repair, sounds high . Can anyone recommend repair service in the US ? Great site.

Many years ago, I read about the Digital back for manual focus SLR cameras, what is the status now for that idea ? sounds very logical even if it comes with a P&S digital portable like 6MP. This is lovely if one can be designed for our T90. Thanks.
