The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

The respective Message Boards are some of the HARDEST hit section of the PIM site, if at any one time, the traffic is high - the table/content may take a while to load the data, just be patience. If it stalls, just click on the 'Reload' or 'Refresh' button on your browser menu once to re-attempt. Thank you.

I have made available some of canonfd.com contents on my personal website here: http://www2.sandon.it/drupal/canon_fdresources.
Just be aware that this site is hosted on a computer at my home and could not always be available, and I have not much upload bandwidth.
If canonfd.com does not return online, I'll move them on a more capable server.

Does anyone know what has happened to the Christian Rollinger (canonfd.com) website?? Doesn't seem to be there anymore. Does anyone have any Macrolite ML-2 adapters or tightening rings that they would like to sell?
Thanks

I ran about 5-6 rolls of film through my T90 and found everthing was a little over exposed, so I moved the exposure needle 2 clicks to the left and things improved. I moved it one more click and then shot 4 rolls on vacation - still parts of some pics are still overexposed. I shot all this film on the PROGRAM mode.

My questions:

1} I assume I'd get the same basic exposure results if I moved to apeerture or shutter priority?

2} Any suggestions RE ways to get a better balance and less blown out areas in the pics? I have read the manual several times, but haven't had the camera very long.

Thanks!

Mark

Hey, Well I got my 1.4 50mm. Hopefully it'll provide me with lots of service.
A question for anyone, I have a sigma 28 mm 2.8, but on my t90 the widest it will go is 5.6... Does anyone know if this is lens or camera? I assume it must be a problem with the lens, it doesn't do it for any other of my lenses.. And is this lens any good? Cheers,

Will~

Mark: both backs will print the date/time or a frame counter on the film. The Data Back can store several informations about each exposure, while the Command Back expands the camera function with an extended self-timer, an interval timer, very long (beyond the 30") exposures and "number of frame" mode.
The Data Back is difficult to find, probably because Canon made the mistake to mate it to MSX computers, an hardware standard proposed by Microsoft Japan in 1983 that was never widespread in USA and Europe, and therefore I guess not many were sold outside Japan.
To download the data to a PC RS-232 port (now disappearing replaced by USB), a custom adapter and software has to be built. Data can be see on its display, anyway.
Check online reseller like keh.com or team-foto.de (there are others, anyway), from time to time one appears.

I have two questions:

1} will the command back do everything the data back will do (or does it have a totally different function/purpose - I did read the website) and

2} I can't find a data back on Ebay - any other sources?

Thanks!

Mark

Will, The T90 will expose IR film perfectly. The reason certain eos and other late 35mm slr cameras will not work with IR film, is that the bodies in question contain an IR emitter/detector - something to do with film transport/loading I think.

Will,
To use full manual:
Set the LCD window to Tv by pressing the MODE button and turning the electronic input dial.
Take the aperture ring on the lens off A.
Select the desired shutterspeed by turning the input dial.
Look through the viewfinder and depress shutter button half way. You will see the reccommended aperture value which you then set on the lens. Or you may use an aperture of your choice. An "M" will also be displayed in the viewfinder indicating Manual.

It seems a long time since I have used my camera, is it not possibe to fully set the camera to absolute manual, so I can control both the shutter and aperture seperately? If so, how can I do this?

Is there much difference between the 50mm 1.8 and 1.4, in total image quality and correct colour rendition? I have the 1.8 but know where i can get the 1.4 for about $140 Is this a good price anyone? Cheers,
Will~
