The Canon T-90 System |

Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Thanks for the info Ken. Can the R60T3 remote release be purchased at most camera stores, or will I have to try Ebay to find one?2. From : Ken D (kdurling@earthlink.net)

Larry - You're not seeing it because it's not a traditional cable release socket. It's a "T3" socket like on EOS cameras, and it's at the base of the hand grip on the right toward the front, under a screw-off cap. You need to have the R60T3 remote release. I've seen cable-T3 adapter listedon eBay, but have no idea how well it works. I just bought a R60T3 for it. Ken3. From : Larry (jjettllagg@hotmail.com)

The T90 instruction manual says it may be preferrable to use a cable release for long exposures in the bulb setting. Problem is, I can't find the connection for a cable release anywhere on the T90. Can anyone tell me where this is? Thanks.4. From : ejy (edyun@yahoo.com)

George: you could, as i do with my T90 and A1, use a Vivitar 5600. It has fill flash capabilities and works with the T90 and A1. I still use the 300TL as well for other instances, but the 5600 works great, has LCD for auto/manual distancing/f-stop, and with the high power zoom head from from 28-105, it works PERFECTLY with the Canon FD 35-105/f3.55. Er, hate to break it to ya, Barry, but they don't bounce off rocks! I took a fall on a rocky hillside with mine recently and put that to the test. It did not survive the test. It's repairable, but for more than I paid for it, so replacement is indeed the ticket in my case. Bummer, but I wasn't hurt, so that's good.6. From : 8bit Barry (daveandrach@tiscali.co.uk)

Brian I wouldnt be too concerned about spares for the T90. I dont know where you are but where I come from I seem to be inundated with T90's! You can always find them second hand. If it does go wrong it's probably more cost effective to chuck it in the bin and by another (many will probably disagree I guess) **unless** it is an obvious minor fault. Knowing the cost of professional repair on something like this I was advised to replace rather than the hassle of fixing major faults. Dont worry though, they bounce off rocks and survive in freezing weather with ease. It takes alot to knock it out.7. From : Jomar Haktorson (jomarh_no@yahoo.com)

Hey Larry! Your problem is described in the T-90 user manual. The way to correct it is, as you did, to take out the battery compartment and slide it back again. If the camera works after this, everything should be OK. If not, it should be sent for repair. I think these are casual problems or "bugs" that occurs in the electronics from time to time. I have experienced the same problem twice with my T-90, and both times after the camera had been unused for a while8. From : George R. (george@sargasso.co.uk)

Hi, Firstly, I'm kind of cross posting to the 'A-series' and 'T-90' boards as I use both types of camera. Can anyone advise me on the best way to achieve 'fill flash' using an A series camera and Canon flash? I have in my arsenal a T-90, a 199A and 188A flash, but I have my eye on a second hand 299T or a new Vivitar. (I know about the 300TL, but I want to work in a way that is compatible with my A series bodies too.) If I get the flash to go off at '1/2 power' for a given aperture is this good enough? Also, how does the ambient light affect the light sensor in the flash? I guess the flash will integrate this light along with any flash-light. kind regards, george.
PS. Many thanks for enlightening answers to a flash question I asked last year!9. From : Larry (jjettllagg@hotmail.com)

Thanks, Mickey. Francesco, it looks like I stand corrected on this one - my A1 was apparently a different "animal" than the T90. Sorry.10. Im seriously considering buying a T90 soon (infact im bidding on ebay for one now) but wanted to ask a question first. As the T90 only had a retail life of one year is there enough spare parts on the market if anything goes wrong? Are repairs to T90's relatively more expensive than to other models or do they share component parts of other cameras? Thanks Brian
