The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

I am experiencing difficulties in down-loading ‘An external source Prepared by Christian Rollinger for Canon 300TL Flash Operational Manual in PDF (2.04MB)’ from ‘Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - TTL Flash Exposure Control With Dedicated Speedlite 300TL.’ Everything proceeds normally until the last item and then it stops. Since I have bought a Canon 300TL recently, I am anxious to obtain a copy of the complete operational manual. Can anyone help?

Evert - I often use the averaging meter for landscapes, and I find if I include a lot of sky, the meter underexposes the slide by 2/3 of a stop. So I either put +2/3 compensation, or change to partial metering and meter at the horizon, with more land and less sky. It is important that you practice with and know how your camera meter responds, before you go on an important scenic trip, especially if you don't bracket your exposures.

hi Don,
thanks so much for the advice. Since I will be using the filter mostly for landscapes a linear filter will do fine. Really good to know there's a place with lots of people with knowledge of the T90....

E. Doorn - The averaging and partial spot sensor is in the pentaprism area, and will meter fine with a linear polarizer. The smaller spot meter is below the half-silvered mirror, and requires a circular polarizer to meter correctly.

Hi i have repaired many T90s and the flashing arrow on the LCD
is caused by a dirty release magnet situated underneath the
mirror box.Its not adviseable to do it yourself but if you want to discuss it please e mail me at jl@4duncalf.freeserve.co.uk
Most T90s can be repaired whether it is giving EEE or dead or
some other obscure fault.I know them inside out and have already repaired many for people off the internet so feel free to ask me any questions about these wonderful cameras.J.L.

hi,
i'm planning to get a T90 (this site has been very resourcefull!), but before doing so i've got a question. I'm planning to use a polarizer, but the online manual (page 9,see http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canont90/t90manual/page09.htm) says you shouldn't use a linear one. I know linear polarizers are needed for (older) manual focus camera's but because of the metering system you might need a circular filter. Is this also the case when using a T90, in other words: does a T90 require a circular polarizer?
please advice!

First, i needed a battery magazine for my T-90 and got a great source. the battery magazine arrived in a few days. thanks. i put the magazine in and once again my T-90 sprang to life, or so i thought. the shutter will not release. when i depress the shutter, meter reads in viewfinder but nothing happens. the marker (arrow) flashes in the LCD at SINGLE. battery check shows full strength. (sound familiar, mike?)can anyone help me(us). i have not used my T-90 in over a year or more. most of that time there was no film or "AA" battery power in the camera. HELP?!?

HELP - Shutter note releasing. When I depress shutter, meter reads in viewfinder but nothing happens. The marker (arrow) flashes in the LCD at SINGLE. Battery check shows full strength. Of course I can't find my manual. Could this be the internal backup battery?
