The Canon T-90 System |

Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

I bought a used T90. Each time I take a snap the 'help' message appear and the 'EEE' in the display? At that point the camera is locked up until the AA Battery Magazine in the bottom is pulled out and re-inserted (as per manual). When I press the shutter again the same error message comes again! It looks like it’s a common problem with the T90! I'll appreciate some help. Many thanks,2. From : Tony Dunne (dunne555@yahoo.com)

Has anyone attempted to replace the grip side bracket for attaching a neck strap? Is this a job for a professional camera tech or your average quy with a phillips head screwdriver?3. From : Ken D (kdurling@earthlink.net)

Hootan - I can't authoritatively answer all your questions, but here's my hit. First off, I wouldn't pay top dollar for a camera with a"scratched" film plate! I don't know what the market there in Germany is like, but I recently bought a T-90 from eBay for $280, and it's in excellent condition. You might hold out for a camera you feel more confident about. I can't really address the shutter spot, but as to appreciation and depreciation, I have seen T-90 prices go all over the map in the two years I've been watching them. I expect they'll continue to do the same. As to why people are willing to pay so much, it's just one of the best cameras ever made. But I wouldn't pay $475 unless it was absolutely mint, and even then . . . Ken4. From : Hootan (h_mahallati@yahoo.com)

Hello all, I am sure my questions have been asked before but I am close to dropping $450 on a T90 here in Germany and need a sanity check. Don't worry, I have just been very descriptive below so that I can get accurate help. I want to get a T90 but am naturally paranoid since it's an old but expensive electronic kit. A) Future value: the camera is very clean (9/10), but the last owner seems to have loved it so much, he engraved his initials (BJ!) on the back and side of the battery compartment. The marks are needle thin and shallow, but will this sort of thing hurt its future sales value? In general, do you expect T90s to get cheaper and cheaper over time? This one has a serial number of 1,070,000 or so, is that an early example and if so, is that bad? B) The square metal plaque on the inside of the film compartment lid, across from the shutter, has some very light scratches, almost as if the film rubbing on it made the straight lines. Will this damage the new film? Also, one shutter blade has a spot darker than the rest of the metal. Do the shutters on these cameras develop any wear? C) Why are people still paying so much for these things? Is some of it cult-like status, rarity and hype or is this soemthing really special? Thanks for the help. Hootan5. I'm trying to locate a facility/person in the Midwest/USA in which I may send in a Canon T-90 to be repaired. Most places I've contacted already don't want to bother with this type of camera. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to post here or e-mail me with info. This is my Mother's camera, & I'd really like to get it fixed for her. Thank you for your consideration. renesanz@yahoo.com9. From : John (jillyandjohn@lineone.net)
