The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

I played around with it for a while and figured out that it also has to be screwed on tight, to ensure propper connection, I guess part of the problem was the screw was not quite tight enough. is it easily broken if you screw it on too tight?
I did start to make some sense of it though, thanks for the help! I am looking forward to getting some pictures back to see how much better this flash works with the T90 over my old basic flash. Thanks again2. From : Luigi D. Sandon (cp@sandon.it)

MC: your flash is working correctly. A-TTL is designed for "fill-in" flash. It will take ambient light into account, to obtain a "natural" effect. For "classic" flash operation switch to P mode, or use "manual TTL" - set an aperture on the lens, the desired shutter speed (below 1/250, of course) and shoot.3. From : MC (me.combs@comcast.net)

I have recently acquired a speedlite 300TL to go with my T90. I does not seem to be functioning as the manual suggests it should. WHen I try to use the ATTL function, it rarely lets me take a picture with a shutter speed above 60, unless there is plenty of ambient light. one example, I used the program mode of the flash, with the camera on shutter priority (at 125), and it showed displayed shutter speed of 60, aperture varied depending on where I focused the lense. however, when I used Attl, and used the same settings, it flashed an error in the aperture, and wanted me to adjust my shutter speed to 1/2.
I took the camera and the flash to a repair shop to see which was broken, or if I just do not understand the manual. we tried the flash on another T90 adn it did the same thing, and we tried another flash on my T90 and it still flashed an incorrect aperture.
it says in the flash manual that if the aperture blinks, you need to adjust your shutter speed, but it seems like that is taking away everyting that they say this flash is supposed to do. Am I expecting to much, am I using it wrong? why can't I get it to take a picture in Attl mode wth a shutter speed greater than 60? do I have to only use mannual mode? Program seems to work okay, but it changes everyting to 60.... I may be jumping the gun a little, because i havent gotten my rollof film back yet. but I am just wonedring about the settings...4. Hi Group! It's sort of a long story, but after showing my neighbor my Rebel G, he decided that he needed autofocus too. So, I bought his AE-1p for more than the camera store would give as a trade-in. Recently, I decided that a Canon35-105 f3.5 would be a great normal zoom to carry around when I wanted to play. Did the ebay thing, and got one at a very good price. While I was shopping, saw some T-90's. I'd been intrigued by the looks of that body in the past, but didn't know anything about it. A little research here on the web, and I decided I wanted one. (Notice I didn't say "NEEDED") Got one in great shape again at a great price. Now, I'M HOOKED!!! Got the flash, buying neat, high quality glass at low prices, and carrying it around at all times. I'll still use my Rebel G and Elan 7e when I need the autofocus and some other little tricks, but I love this T-90. It just feels great in the hand with the weight and balance provided by the 4 AA batteries in the base. Plus, it does look good. I'll monitor the group from time to time, and if I have any questions, I'll be sure to ask. As one of my electronics school instructors once said, "The only dumb question is the one you don't ask." A Couple of Tips.
Craig,
The remote release cap is one of the T90's minor flaws. It is so small that it is all too easy to lose. I suggest that you attach a film canister or a pill bottle or, better still the little black bottle with the integral cap that diabetics' test strips come in to your camera strap. Place it high enough so as not to be annoying and on the left side so it wont interfer with the camera's operation. The cap wont escape from there.
Ron,
with a 3.5 prescription you must be on pretty good terms with your local optician. Take him your prior and now unused pair of glasses and ask him to cut the lens to fit the dioptric adjustment accessory. It will probably be far cheaper than buying a new one, providing you could ever find one. I did that years ago and was charged only $5 CAN and he provided the blank.7. Craig- It's threaded, so it screws off. That's also why it's knurled. Ken8. From : Craig Taylor (tuppencetaylor@tiscali.co.uk)

Sorry for asking such a trivial question but does the remote release cap on my T90 screw off or pull off. I am scared to damage it by forcing it. Thanks for helping.9. From : ron (mignoon@hotmail.com)
