The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

All
I bought my T90 I think almost 15 years ago. It still works perfectly except for some modification I had to make to the battery pack due to acid leakage that happened during a trip to Zanzibar some time ago. I now cannot change batteries while film is loaded otherwise film count resets and T90 hangs up after film is finished.
Question: I can't find a Speedlite 300TL either new (!) or used. Are there some new Canon flashes compatible w/ T90? In some sites Speedlite 220EX and 420EX are mentioned but I would like to be sure. Maybe this is not the first question on this issue but I can't "search" trough all messages in this board.
Did you try flashes other than 300 TL with good results?
Thanks

Well the mallet trick may work sometimes but. I bought a T90 on Ebay that was not working for a low price thinking I could fix it and wound up sending it off to Camera Clinic to have the shutter rebuilt4. From : CD (cdcycle22@earthlink.net)

Hello,
I've just become a T90 user, "upgrading" from a long time A1 and FTb-n user. I am keeping one of my FTb-n bodies for a backup to my two T90 bodies, though.
I'm wondering if anyone here may have an intact copy of the T90 User's Guide (Hove Publishing) they may be willing to part with.
Thanks,

Marek, The T90 was manufactured for such a short period of time that I doubt any changes were made to it.
As for things to look for in a used camera you can find no better source of that information than this very site
Browse through it and you will find recurring themes. I would also suggest that you read the manual and the books about the T90 that are available through this site so you will know what the camera should and should not do.7. From : Marek (mareka@poczta.portal.pl)

Hi,
I have opportunity to buy a T90 made in sept 1986, which means probably one of the first batches.
Is anything to be checked especially? Was significant changes introduced to later production?
T90 specialists, comment please.

Thanks for the info, Duane. I've just downloaded the 300TL Reference Guide from www.canonfd.com - looks like a useful supplement to the instruction manual.
Thanks again for your help,

Re 300TL operation,
Louise, you are correct. Setting the lens aperture directly on the lens works quite well. This is called 'Manual TTL' and is described in a document writen by CPS and available here: http://www.canonfd.com/300ref/300ref.htm
Cheers,
Duane
