The Canon T-90 System

Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Canon T-90 - Message Board/Guestbook

The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Because Sony never did something like the T90, and its fans write in the wrong forums for unknown reasons...

Message from Simon Duncalfe How did Sony lose it’s appeal? Back when Sony began, it had a conviction not only to create great electronic products, but to make Japan a great country. But this success story has lost 2/3 of its value in recent times. Why?

Besson, If your 100-300mm f5.6L has a round rear baffle (the opening at the back of the lens is round not rectangular) then the 1.4X-A will work. If it is rectangular the baffle will have to be removed and cut out then replaced. The front element on a 1.4X-A sticks into the back of the lens so it needs this round opening to fit.

José: go to www.canonfd.com for a T90 manual. To change the fps, you have to open the "palm wing" and press the brown button.

Estimated friends: I have usually bought a Canon T-90 in nearly mint state and I have liked it very much almost in all respects. The problem is that I don´t know the steps I must follow to attain 2 f.p.s or 5.f.p.s for sports photography.
Please, I´d thank very much any possible advice ragarding this topic.
Yours sincerely,

José Sánchez

Danny: Canon discountinued the FD line well before the digital era began. Why should they make a digital body now to use lenses they do no longer sell? From their business point of view, it would be a nonsense, and a waste of money, probably.
Leica is a different kind of company, always between tradition and innovation - remember they are still making the M rangefinder line, for example, a camera born seventy-five years ago. Their customer - people who could afford very expensive bodies and lenses, people between photographers and collectors themselves - expect this kind of compatibility from Leica.
I too didn't like the "jump" Canon made then, but it had its rationale. Look at Nikon: while trying to keep compatibilty with earlier lenses it lost ground to the EOS system, and the latest lenses break with the past as EOS did.

I have a T90 with seven Canon lenses, from 24mm to 200mm 2.8 and a zoom 35mm-105mm 3.5. My all time faverite lenses are the 200mm 2.8 and the 35-105mm 3.5. What I wish is Canon going to come out with a digital camera that uses FD lenses. If you go on Ebay, there are a lot of FD lenses are still out there. The new Leica digital module for the R8 and R9 are using the R lenses, manual lenses.

Joe - If you're using a TTL camera, it will still be TTL with a TC. You don't need to make any exposure compensation. You would only have to do that if you were using an external meter. Ken
