The Canon T-90 System |
|
Modern
Classic SLRs Series : |
The Canon T-90 was the last model that uses FD-mount prior to the shift to the autofocus EF EOS system. It hardly lasted a year since its inception but what an impact it has created on the design of future SLR. Every inch a classic, despite after more than 15 years, this camera is still hard to replicate even by today's standard. It was also widely acclaimed as one of the true Classic camera of modern times. Here comes a common Message Board designed specifically for Canon T90 SLR model - this is especially useful when you realize ALL Canon FD mount SLRs have long been discontinued you may require a public forum for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experience among many of you. This Site has proved to be quite popular and I am quite happy to see these effort was not wasted and special thanks to ALL the volunteered Site Maintainers of this Message Board. Enjoy.

Mickey, tried that, the lever that stops down the iris springs back nice and freely but the one that actually sets the apperture is more than a little sluggish when returning and also feels a bit stiffer than the stop down lever, it actually takes just over a second to return to its home position, kinda feels like the return spring is a bit too heavy for it.2. Daz, Perhaps your lens is a little sluggish from lack of use. Try this. Turn the locking ring towards "Lock" as you would if you were locking it on the camera. Set the aperture ring to f22 or to "A". At the rear of the lens there are 2 metal levers. Try moving these levers with your finger. They should both move freely without any binding or sticking and they should spring back to their original position when released. Also, move the longer lever to close the aperture all the way and activate the shorter lever. The aperture should open and close freely. I understand the slightest sign of hesitation, can can elicit the "HELP/EEE" syndrome. Activate them with your finger numerous, perhaps dozens of times. That might free them. If not - look for better quotes than you recieved. They seem exorbitant. Good luck, Mickey3. From : daz (daz.clark@blueyonder.co.uk)

I only paid about £35 for it, dont know how much it would be worth though, it's in pretty good condition but cant find any other examples on the net. I spoke to my local camera shop over the weekend and they reckon about £70-£100 to service/repair it :-(4. From : daz (daz.clark@blueyonder.co.uk)

Daz, It may very well be worth the cost of having the lens serviced. Mickey6. From : Luigi (cp@sandon.it)

daz: the lens has problems then. The lens mount is the same for all Canon T cameras (F and A cameras too, it changed only with the EOS line).7. From : daz (daz.clark@blueyonder.co.uk)

Works fine with other lenses, just not the sigma. The pins that move and set the shutter on the rear are working but to me they are slightly closer together than on my other lenses, Im starting to think this lens was not meant for the T90. The guy that sold it to me has informed me that it works ok on his T70 but I dont know if the mechanics of this camera are any different. bit of a shame as it's meant to be a cecent lens8. Daz, It sounds as if your lens is the problem, not the T90. Try a different lens and see what happens. Mickey9. From : daytripper (asow82@dsl.pipex.com)

If you go to, my home page. http://www.asow82.dsl.pipex.com/ You can see what a T90, is capable of, in the image making, dept. I've been mugged for it, plastic hip followed, they didn't get the flash and I've dropped the thing, onto concrete from 4 feet. I and the camera both survived! It took me six months to choose it, in 1984 and it just keeps going. I've soaked it, many times and even snapped away, in a blizzard. One shot of a total, moon eclipse, over Spaghetti Junction. Took all night, for four exposures, on the same frame. Oh and a flask and a bottle of whiskey, it was bloody freezing. I must find something to snap, that lets me use, the high speed drive, on the camera. I've done over 60,000 images, through it. So many, it is almost, an extension of myself. The lens mount, has come loose and the flash, has needed new feet, a few times. Luckily, I know the last camera repairer, in the city. Happy snapping. daytripper Birmingham UK.10. I have just bought a sigma 21-35 fd fit (mark2?) for my T90. The shutter wont stop down past f4.5 in manual or auto, when in auto it causes the "EEE" in the LCD and displays "HELP" in the viewfinder. When the lens is OFF the camera you can get the shutter to move freely on all settings. I bought this item off ebay and am hoping I dont have to try and get my money back. Any help would be greatly appreciated cheers daz
